Part I: New Perspective

Ryan adjusted his new hat. He liked the hat, though it was a bittersweet prize. He’d not been selected to join the police academy- though an officer for the K-9 unit assured him, that though this time he wasn’t picked, he just needed the right experience and a fresh point of view. The cop feeling bad for him, handed him the hat- as if a consolation prize of sorts.

As he left the office with his new hat, he thought the maybe the reason he was rejected was his size. Infamously scrawny, he probably wouldn’t cut much of an imposing figure as a police officer. He resolved to try again later, maybe his new hat would bring him luck, he felt lucky at least.
