Appearance: Short Blonde hair with green tinges due to hair products, seawater and chlorine, flipped up in a gravity defying style (carefully arranged daily with buckets of hair gel). He has light brown eyes, and suntanned skin. His build is very athletic, he is both a swimmer and a runner, he also works out a lot to keep his body fit. He walks around in flip-flops year round, and wears sleeveless white shirts, and shorts. He usually wears a bathing suit out in public, whether he is going to beach or a pool later or not. He carries his personally designed and hand painted surfboards around with him a lot, and occasionally brings them to college classes, his favorite is pictured (and not drawn to scale).

Personality: Charles is a stereotypical surfer dude. He has an extremely laid back personality, and goes out of his way to stay on good terms with everyone. He is generally happy and fun loving, and at the same time is one of the most informal people one could ever meet, talking surfer slang in just about every occasion. He understands however when he needs to focus in on something and act responsibly and is completely dependable when needed. He may act with abandon and carelessness, but he is by no means stupid and acts with dedication and intent when he needs to. He is also not a jock, while successful in surfing, swimming and running, he is inept at every other sport.

History: Charles was born in Avon, Hatteras Island on June 12th, to his mother and father, Donna and Maximillian Leferber. From an early age he expressed a profound desire to be active, he was always running first into the ocean to swim even in extremely cold weather. When he couldn’t do that, he nodged his father into playing with him, until in school he signed up for many sports. In middle and highschool he was so involved to the point where his mother became a taxi for all of his athletic endeavors, until he turned 16, and got his drivers license.

In high school, Charles got certified as a lifeguard, and then as a surfing instructor, he worked many days giving swim lessons and surf lessons, as well as helping the school he applied to in senior year, UNC-W with catching fish for their bio and fish programs. Charles’ bought a small run-down snack stand from the owner who was moving and opened a surf shop, during the summer of last year of high school. Here he sold the surf boards he painted and other concessions to beach goers, aside from a few hurricanes his shop was successful and saved enough money for his college years.

That spring he got accepted into UNC-W’s science college, and became a marine Biology major. He was in his sophomore year of college, when he heard about a frat house that had accidentally caught on fire, and had it’s tenants evicted and charted revoked. Ever the opportunist Charles looked into the house, saw it was livable and decently far off campus for him to use even after he graduated. He took out a loan and bought the thing, seeking to sublet it to four people. This allowed him to meet Glaucus and Kejital, along with Nuriaria and Relana. The five fixed up the small house rather quickly and spent the year becoming friends.

When finals came around Things proceeded as normal, until after his last exam, he decided to hit the beach, wherein he bought a new of energy drink, called “Euphoza”. Thinking nothing of it he took it home with him. He chugged the next on his way to surf and that day he vanished. They found his shorter board shattered and his clothing strewn about the beach, stained with seawater, and his own blood.

But he didn't die. He was transformed into a merfolk, and was sucked into the sea by the rip currents. He somehow made his way in his awkward form to a far off world, where he entreated the king, to help him change back. But he became romantically involved with a feral mermaid, Maerin. Following more events he changed again, becoming much more satisfied with his life at last.

Meanwhile his parents mourned their one and only child, dead for almost two months, and still unable to cope with their loss. Suffice it is to say; it was a strange sight for them to see him, when he returned as a merman to tell them the story.
