Description A little animation for my animation class. I finally got to rehoot it today (only took like...two hours...stupid camera....).

I'm still working on the end...haven't really worked on the settle like I've been wanting to.

So....yeah. Animation. Rock on.

Download to View! It's a quicktime file (.mov). Sorry, it's kinda small.

That looks terrific, is this for an animation course or something...?
I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to learn how to animate in this way.. but I have no idea where to study it... do you have any suggestions or links or somthing?

agent-elf In reply to shidesha [2006-10-18 14:35:22 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Yeah, it was for an animation class (which is causing a lot of grief right now).

Hmm...I don't know any schools in Australia, but online stuff, there's Animation Meat: [link] . That's the only online place I know of that a great animation resource.

Awesome! *gets over excited* yaaay That's a great start, I really appreciate it!
I want to spend alot of my summer holidays working on learning to animate (even if it's just in flash)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

agent-elf In reply to shidesha [2006-10-18 23:35:59 +0000 UTC]

Flash is awesome, especially with the "onionskinning" feature, which is rad. Yeah, animation meat rocks...what else...hm....just watch lots of animation, to get a feel for the timing and whatnot...and stopwatches are good, too.

shidesha In reply to agent-elf [2006-10-19 03:24:31 +0000 UTC]

Do you do much animating in Flash?
I tried once to get a girls hair to blow in the wind and it ended up like her hair was cardboard LOL
Thanks again for the tips! I'll be sure to upload anything (if I do something that looks like its animating I mean LOL)

agent-elf In reply to shidesha [2006-10-19 22:19:43 +0000 UTC]

It would be such good practice, cause you don't waste paper! Lol! I'm a lot more courageous in digital, cause I have an undo button. I make a lot more mistakes, but they end up looking better in the end because I'm taking risks. Digital rocks!

AngelCrusher [2006-10-14 13:31:48 +0000 UTC]

wow! I love it! The way you have drawn the sack and the timing is excellent. In my animation uni, we recently animated the 'sacks', but we did them jumping over a cliff, but giving two sacks different characteristics. I'll have to post it some time after we finish colouring it.

agent-elf In reply to AngelCrusher [2006-10-14 19:55:26 +0000 UTC]

You color yours? Wow...fun! Yeah, post it and let me know! I want to see!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelCrusher In reply to agent-elf [2006-10-14 23:29:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeh, we use a program called Animo to colour it. The pain is that my sack animation is 32 seconds long, then I have a week of clean-up and colouring. Clean-up is gonna kill me, even if it is sacks, because I got 500 drawings altogether. :s

Kobb [2006-10-14 05:05:21 +0000 UTC]

HAHA YES!

That's awesome - I like the little testing thing it does... "Will it hold my weight? Maybe... no seriously, will it hold me?! Am I really going to try and walk on a string??!?! ...why not? here goes..."

And its balancing walk looks great, with a solid feeling of weight throughout.

In short: niiiiiiiiice.

blueitiger In reply to blueitiger [2006-10-15 04:42:00 +0000 UTC]

It would be cool if it blew up at the end but that would be a lot more work than you might want to do. The squash and strech looks realy good.

Do it anyway! Flour sacks are wicked fun to animate!

kristaia [2006-10-14 04:16:52 +0000 UTC]

it looks great! i never got to do a flour sack in school *jealous*

if you want a critique, i'd say maybe space out the timing a little so it's a bit slower when he tests the line and a little bit of a hold before he falls..but i know it can be a pain to re-time the stuff and sometimes you just have to move forward....so it looks great!
