Number eight in the Leading Ladies series, Eileen Grendt.Drawn by the fantastic to work with and very skilled artist
Eileen is featured in what will hopefully become book 5, Of Tabia and Terrors. She wanders into the King's Forest, a massive, uncharted forest on the northern half of Tabia (the continent that has Tallebeck on it, see map here fav.me/d1r3t88 )
Fleeing from her job as a barmaid in Crossview Bay, a port filled with undesirables, Eileen escapes one woe to find another, poisoned from a cut on her leg and pursued by creatures of the forest. Coda the Tabian, called a centaur by some, and a dryad, who watches from the safety of the trees. Can you see her?
Though the story is a huge work in progress, Eileen leaves one group of terrors to find there were terrors in the world unseen, ways of the world she will never fully understand, and how the best place in the world can sometimes be your own bedroom. In the end, though, she discovers a new life and a new outlook on the world.
What's written now is an adventure through the King's Forest; I guess I've got to write a meaning into said adventure
Anyways, the lighting in the forest is fantastic, and the fact that you can see the creatures of the forest only if you really look for them. Sure, Coda is fairly easy to spot, but the dryad isn't - they're spirits of the forest who speak in riddles, share no secrets, and are considered by many the keyholders in the realm of truth and fate that is unlocked by none but the enlightened. I really like how she turned out. And Eileen has the cut and the barmaid's dress - which she ends up wearing through the entire story - and the look on her face is priceless.
More proof that we've got more stories coming! Though I should really work on the second book some more...

It is a very fine piece of art. I love the general composition and the calmness of the expressions in the characters faces. The shading really transmits the feeling of deep-emotion you wanted to imprint.

When I saw the guardian of the forest I thought it was a wild man or a male centaur. I din't get a proper look. This is really good.

He is a male centaur - the folige was set so you have to look twice.
