I looked through my linearts, and I thought to myself...."Why post eight images, when you can post one?"
So, there it is. A huge image, but one image. They are the eight mermaid princesses- Luchia, Hanon, Lina, Karen, Coco, Noelle, Sara and Seira.
Sara and Seira are actually both orange pearl mermaids, but from different seasons. Or series, if you consider the Pearl series a different anime.
Why can't we have translated verisions of this? I've been waiting years for a fully translated series of MMPPP, and so far we've only gotten up to episode 39. Is it only because AnimeSuki has gotten bored and gave up? Or is it because someone at LunarAnime simply won't release them on english DVD? It can't be just licensing. Come on, people.
I'll get off my soap box now. The story here is just too great to be left off the page.

Took awhile to make the change on this one. Better? Worse? Everyone seemed to complain that evil Sara was never represented in black as a mermaid - and they're right - so here, in her original colors, are Sara. Done.

Now working on the fix - this was made well before I knew she was orange, and as I thought she might look while in her evil/black guise.

Why is sara all blackish and stuff she was orange from beginning to end all mermaids are even if they go a little crazy

In the anime, she had dark hair, and this was colored in before she turned orange again. I have never gone back to make her orange, and I might at some point. As for the tail, she may have always had an orange tail but I had never seen it in the anime, so I matched it to her hair.
Maybe later in the month; we'll see.

I personally don't mind though - and I suppose the original lineart artist might not care either. Just be aware of that (I don't know if you have to credit the original; I'm not sure on the permissions here.)

The series was...hm....I mean, for a magicalgirlprettyprincesssparklesparkle it was ok, but it was...awkward. I liked some of the songs - Mind you, mainly those two sisters that are evil, Bats Lady and Sara's song, but I only ever saw the series in original subbed X3 But 'defeating the bad guys with music' is just so awkward XD The charries are cute though, gives them a 9/10 in my book XD
Lina's my fave, visual-wise. I liked that Luchia didn't have that high preppy voice most girls are given in anime XD

They're lineart downloaded from Google - I just colored them.
I'll admit the entire show was awkward, but the thing about mermaids is that they're best known for singing. Sara and Hanon are my favorites.

In my country...hm, I'd just have to say that 'singing' isn't the first thing we know them for, so it just seemed awkward to me, but it makes sense ^^

For beautiful, or sexually attractive [children know them for being very pretty, everyone older knows them for attractive]. If an ugly or not too pretty mermaid is shown singing beautifully, it wouldn't be counted as a mermaid, maybe some weird fish lady or a witch. Mermaids are portrayed as playful, giggling, usually silent or very alluring to sailors here X3
If you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have understood why the series was about singing mermaids to be honest, I thought it was really, really odd. When I saw the group called mermaid melody I thought it was a MMPPP fan-club

Atually Sara had orange hair at one point but then going evil made her hair the dark brownish-black it is. I know not possible but thats what happened. Well either that or dye . . . and Seira's a reincarnation

Yeah, I discovered all of those when I finally watched the subtitled versions. (Quite aware of the orange.) I painted this quite awhile ago.
Great series. A shame it never made it into a US or DVD version.

I own a few of them - translated editions - they're prety PC as far as magna goes. Considering the mermaids are technically school age, I guess that's okay.
Good storylines, and some of them translate to the anime quite well.

And regarding her color - blue seemed like a better color. I've never seen Sara in the anime as a mermaid.

I guess I was going for the 'fallen mermaid' look instead of the bright orange that she should've been.
Bear in mind I haven't seen the final episodes, because I haven't found a translated episode (although I do know most of the spoilers.)
Should I do a version where Sara is orange? What do you think?

Well I agree that it should be her black version, or maybe orange, but I like this alot. : )
I was more pointing out that her broken hearted-color is black, not blue.

Ah- yes, it is black, but I guess I went with blue just to avoid running into the lineart itself. I've found that using black and black lines seem to come out too flat for me.
Of course, if I knew how to shade...

What I do when I attempt to shade a black color, I use a really dark gray that looks almost black, and than use black to do shading. : )
I only recently starting figuring out to shade.
