Description The Kaon battles were the highest form of entertainment on Cybertron.

I didn't like the insecticon I drew, so I made an alligator robot for Megatronus to fight.

Characters belong to Hasbro and the Hub.

Was he? They never said anything in Prime about it, thus why I have a headcanon that he was closer to having a journalistic career. Was he an Archivist in the novels? I'm called out a lot about not having read the novels and played the games.

I think somewhere it said in the universe of Prime that Soundwave was also a gladiator and became loyal to Megatron after loosing a first to wound match against him.

You're right, in the Exodus continuity Soundwave was a gladiator along with Megatronus before he went to the political ring and shortened his name to Megatron. It can be concluded that this is the reason Soundwave was among the first of Megatron's followers, as stated by Ratchet in the first season.

However the Exodus line already has continuity differences from the television show and I think Soundwave using Video surveillance for information sharing fits his character and abilities in the television series more. I think that it is even probable to state that he could have been both! Watching the fights enough maybe he wanted to give it a shot, no?

Yes the multimedia continuity snarl always makes things hard to tell at times. Though at the same time is the beast in the arena something from the canon or something you yourself created? That or the third option it is something from the older continuity, like the Sharkticons, that you have adapted.

I could see your idea though I would say more seeing as the gladiators were basically slaves that his masters just had him recording for them whenever he wasn't fighting that day or injured to fight. Actually perhaps his recording equipment was given to him when the beings that ran the fights wanted to try some sort of special "gladiator eye view" of the action and sell the footage at a higher price.

The beast is of my own creation,

though I looked off character designs for the insecticons of Prime,

the Sharkticons in G1, photographs of crocodiles,

and the predacon symbol in beast wars as reference.

I would have drawn a Predacon from Beast Hunters,

but this was drawn long before season 2 was over.

Slaves, huh? That would give Megatronus ample reason to start

a revolution. As for eyes on the field, that is a very cool headcanon!

I see you've thought this through very well. This gives him multiple

uses and a job for every day. He's a very good multitasker, as seen

in the show where he could be seen opening groundbridges, and

controlling things unrelated on a computer, maybe he has much

practice from his time in the pits.

Well I'm not much of an artist so I find it fun when I can really think about this sort of thing. Thanks for the compliment though.

Also was the beast planned like that from the beginning or did you go through a few other designs before settling on the crocodile based one seen here?

Ah, I see. You are welcome.

Well, I didn't really have much in mind when I was about to draw it other than the fact that I wanted "something big and scary and robotic" for Megatronus to fight.

When I started drawing shapes for the general spaces for where the characters and scenery go I started thinking about exactly what I wanted to go there.

Nope, this was the first and final design. I sketched it out looking at all those images and then just traced over on a new layer for the lineart. Usually I like to change it up a bit when going from a sketch to lineart, but this time I was satisfied with the result of the sketch enough to use it the way it was.

Hm, I suppose Soundwave follows Megsy because Megsy liberated him from being a camera and made him into... a camera.

Wait...
