Description 2015

153x83x25cm

Seventh in the "Fractures" series.

The importance of finding purpose to one's existence cannot be overstated. I feel I have found mine and intend to do my very best with this blessing. I've noticed that when making art, I feel truly alive. So alive, in fact that I can almost feel my self dying... Slowly withering away in the clutches of time towards the inevitable. First time I noticed it (only thrice overall) I almost teared up a bit. I feel I would never stumble upon such beautiful insight during the daily grind.

A while ago a friend spotted a juried exhibition with a theme of "Death" for me and I decided participate and expand upon these feelings. I will be submitting this piece and let you all know how it turns out!

Also, I filmed the making of this piece from start to finish. If you're interested in that sort of thing, head on to my YouTube channel www.deviantart.com/users/outgo… and subscribe so you don't miss it! I intend to make videos of most of my future creations.

Ingredients:
Birch Plywood
Birch Spindles

Title for this piece is a respectfully re-purposed bit of lyric from a Gojira song called "The way of all flesh".

Detail shots in my gallery. Thank you for watching!

EDIT: Here it finally is! A three part video documenting the actualization of this piece from start to finish! Enjoy!  www.youtube.com/playlist?list=…

sheared hair of an albino, mixed in plaster,  knitted and snarled across the canvas, like a wilting spider's web. a gritty dimension of black pipes and dark construction, a deeper well that the magic of albino threads climb toward as a strangling white weed, hungry. all in vain, the black goes on and on, beyond sight and impenetrable.

Awesome interpretation! This subject can be an endless pit of gloom if one is not careful. Expressing it through art helps tremendously in dealing with it, as it is transferred out of you into the piece (at least for a while...) which grants you an opportunity to view it from a new perspective, from a distance.
