Description I did this scratchboard of M.C. Escher's Bridge (don't know the exact name) he did sketches of this when he was getting away from the Nazi's in WW2...he drew the scenery on his travels. Anyway, I recreated it on scratchboard.

what's a scratchboard? i like this style...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aibrean In reply to conskeptical [2004-05-29 17:00:45 +0000 UTC]

basically its a white board painted black, and you scratch the black out with a special kind of tool and then the white appears.

conskeptical In reply to aibrean [2004-05-29 18:38:59 +0000 UTC]

ooooh that's a nice idea... kind of reminds me of those shaded pencil drawings where people use erasers to do interesting effects too. actually there's lots of things based around scratching layers off isn't there not heard of this one before though... sounds interesting!

I love scratch boards. They're able to bring so much life into a simple piece of art. It seems you've captured the concept of pressure extremely well. Your ability to make lines dark or light is excellent, and it adds so much to this. Excellent scratching.

I love pieces like this. Very congested with images. It reminds me of this black metal band named Emperor's cd art, "In the Nightside Eclipse". Great work.

excelent use of perspective here. although the background part should be smaller to make more depth on the image. congrat's

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aibrean In reply to portwolf [2004-01-22 20:11:40 +0000 UTC]

Well it was taken directly from the M. C. Escher work...I think it might have been better if the background wasn't etched in as much...a blend between white and black.
