It was only Queen Uru and Prince Mufasa on a royal lesson. King Ahadi was out on Patrol with the Lion Guard pushing hyenas even further out of the Pridelands. This left Prince Taka alone to himself, thinking what to do. Finally the old king, Mohatu came to the young prince's side. He noticed Taka's gloomy expression.
"Why the long face, Taka? Why don't you play with the other cubs," asked Mohatu.
"Well, I was! Until mother took Mufasa out on a lesson and then none of the cubs wanted to play anymore. It's like when he's gone then everything turns gray," huffed Taka.
" Odd. Well why don't you play with the other animals in the kingdom?"
"Gee...are you sure, grandpa? Last time I did you all punished me for talking to hyena pups," Taka said begrudgingly.
Mohatu only sighed and almost growled at himself for mentioning that. He then looked at his grandson who now climbed on a rock looking towards Priderock. You can barely see Queen Uru and Prince Mufasa on the top of it. That's when Mohatu smiled and took a paw to his grandson.
" Tell you what? How about I teach you the ways of your old Gramps. I'll even tell you stories about my last so you wont make mistakes in the future. My very own lessons in life taught to you. Not even Mufasa knows that much about the past and he's getting second hand stories from your mother. Not at the very source like you're gonna have today," chuckled Mohatu.
" Really," Taka questioned.
That's when a familiar voice boomed, " There you are, Taka! Oh...Mohatu you're here too".
"Ah, Ahadi," said Mohatu surprised. " I was just telling Taka that I'll train him to be an advisor to the King. He'd be great besides he's clever already, a good attribute to the Pridelands".
"Really? I was just done talking to Nguvu and he's about to retire the Lion Guard. This means we need a new one and who better to lead than my own son, Taka. Nguvu is willing to train you, Taka," said Ahadi.
Taka looked around on the ground almost unsure. That's when Mohatu chuckled, " You see, Taka, you're a very important lion. All the cubs will be idolizing you now since you got power to protect the Pridelands. I'll let Uru know to make it official".
Taka only smiled at his father and grandfather. Yet he pondered at his grandfather's words. Power over them and the Pridelands. Mayne then he can do whatever he wants...
