Yes, you guess it right. Baba and Jiji are Sunakake Baba & Konakii Jiji from GeGeGe no Kitaro/Spooky Kitaro. Another part about Ogre Club is that since the lore here is that they are survivors/victims of demonic ritual, they were relying on their own darkness. Same Darkness, but different source of menace. These darkness connected to their realm of the Dark, which we known as Yokai. That’s why I use one of the Kitaro’s helping duo as a reference of their design especially of their helmet. After all Baba sometimes wear a triangle headband. And Jiji doesn’t have a round head, so I made the front guard of the helmet more taller than the helmet’s top. Is that an ACR? Yes sirree! The Japanese have a new replacement for HOWA rifle that looks like ACR right now for JSDF so there it is. And why is the flame black and blue? That’s their own dark energy, nicknamed Yokai Energy.

Since Ogre Club are themed after Yokai, you can tell the majority of the Witch Cult Victims & Survivors will have some powers similar to Onryo despite they are still human. They share their power through Rites and Ritual that looks more like a blood donor than a occultic rituals. and with this cursed power, they have sworn to gain revenge upon witch cult for taking away their humanity and turned them into this. You may think it’s unusual but for them a best revenge for them is to have them suffer in the same Dark Powers. I never thought of jumpscare moments in this universe right now but I could have wanted to, since there is a small horror element in it.
