Description As ironic it was, when Evaryr was presented this blade by Prince Imrek’s own hand, it was in a time when the two forged a brilliant friendship, before the days when they became known enemies. Of course, the irony was held in both the name of the blade and the very oath Evaryr swore upon it, for Kaeyr himself, an ancient figure of nelri history, was considered one of the last great warriors of his race’s order, before Rothelim the Farseer brought unification throughout Ailyrenai and gave birth to the line of Phoenix Kings.

Though Kaeyr was thought to have sworn his knee to Rothelim, and his future children to the throne, few can deny that the great warrior’s loyalties belonged foremost to the lands he was raised and born from. Such was the oath he swore upon his blade when he vowed servitude to the Phoenix Court, and several verses of folklore insinuate just how severe it was.

No doubt, it was truly that what convicted him in the end as a traitor to the withdrawn throne of Phoenix King Natharidel the Reserved. Legend has it that while Natharidel gave upon his generals the difficult order to pull back their armies from a wartorn northern realm, Kaeyr fought tooth and nail to protect from Zysinorah threat, he disobeyed it with broken anger and thought them all cowards for abandoning their innocent people there.

As such, Kaeyr's disloyalty to the throne of that darkened age was not handled well, though it was because of him that not all hope was lost to those hauntingly left behind. Kaeyr rose to the dreadful challenge and laid out what scholars believe were the first hints of a citizen levy ever recorded in Ailyrenai history; he trained hundreds of frightened noncombatants into hardened soldiers. And in spite of Natharidel’s dire abandonment of them, they became collectively known as the Forgotten; an army that soon became one of legend for its creativity.

Whether it was this that sparked Evaryr’s own decision to rise against the Mad King and put aside his friendship to Prince Imrek, Evaryr turned this blade against the one soul he could have considered his brother and blamed him for all the innocents who had suffered for his stubbornness and pride. His oath to the lands and their people was what proved the innocence of Evaryr’s heart to them… much like it was said about Kaeyr's in the end.

<========================================================={}--------

lol, I’ll say now that I was listening to the Prince of Egypt soundtrack while I was writing out the backstory behind this one. I also drew a sheath for it, although I think I’ll only bother with that when I get around to creating a compilation piece with all of what Evaryr wields, including any significant non-weapon possessions...

You have awesome weapons designs! They are nice to look at, but they don't have ridiculous things sticking out that could prove harmful to the wielder.

Hehe, thanks! And yeah... I like things to look at least practical enough to use, lol. (Which is why I tend to look at the weapons in WoW at least and mostly prefer the starter gear over the epic bullswa. XD) Still, I wouldn't say all of them are like that. One or two could probably use some finer work...

lol, I wonder where I'd start on the lore though. Kaeyr's era would be quite a challenge, as I haven't really thought of anything during then. More one for cloudly myths. x_x

Anytime!

That's a hard question. You give so much to start and build on, so many ideas that could be followed through with detail... hey, cloudy myths are really interesting.

Aikurisu In reply to LunasKiss [2009-03-25 18:00:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but with me they require much more thought, as I end up wondering what else went on during the era it was set in, etc.

You're right though. There is a great deal of stuff I need to build on... just don't know where to begin.

LunasKiss In reply to Aikurisu [2009-04-04 01:10:04 +0000 UTC]

yeah..*laughs* you should make a time table! that would help out a lot. Hmm...where to begin...I guess most people only create one story and then build on it, not a ton to start with...which one's your favorite? or which one do you think you could expand upon the most.

Aikurisu In reply to LunasKiss [2009-04-06 15:53:39 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... to be honest, I'm not sure. It also depends on the frame of mind I'd be in to write it. Like say... if I wrote a proper story behind 'Miaea's Bow', it'd be more of a romantic piece than anything else. Unfortunately, I don't really have much experience in writing anything like that, but I suppose there's a lot of other things I could write instead. Still, that one sticks out to me for some reason. Not sure if I want my first official short story to be nelri related though.

LunasKiss In reply to Aikurisu [2009-04-13 06:07:26 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree about having to be in a certain state of mind to write about something. You should try out a romantic piece. I'm sure you've seen romances and have read about them so you know a bit about them. Try it, there wouldn't be much harm done. Hmm...well I'm sure you'll figure it out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aikurisu In reply to LunasKiss [2009-04-14 16:49:21 +0000 UTC]

lol, maybe. The question is which romantic tale I should focus on first, as I've got quite a few...

The problem I normally have with any of my writings though is that I'm not really all that good at describing locations and ambient feeling. And one of my worst failings is going into too much detail about certain things that really don't need it-- like fight scenes and whatnot, as it can upset the mood and flow of the story. Yet I can word out character discussions fairly well.

LunasKiss In reply to Aikurisu [2009-04-28 20:29:14 +0000 UTC]

ah..yeah that's a difficult question...

ah, I get what you mean. you could go and write what you want to out and just go with the flow and then add in detail later. Details are needed in a good novel. About the scene though...you could focus on it and just be as descriptive as possible when editing it...hm.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aikurisu In reply to LunasKiss [2009-05-07 08:54:40 +0000 UTC]

Possibly. All I know is that I don't have the heart for writing right now. (Might explain why I haven't written much in my art descriptions this past month... ) But yeah, I tend to try to get everything right without need for editing. Basically I like to feel the atmosphere of a scene and act it out in my mind before putting it into words.

Aye, providing that my visual of a scene is clear enough, and that I'm able to put it into words. The later is usually where I lose momentum.

Hmm? How so?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LunasKiss In reply to Aikurisu [2009-05-27 02:35:23 +0000 UTC]

Like...when you visualize the actions taking place pay attention to the detail of the background, describe what the characters are wearing and weave that into the main actions...I find that when there's more detail in things they become more intriguing and more fun to read. The fantasy is easier to imagine...

A little. I know that he's proficient with more than a couple forms of weaponry. The question is what's his preferred one. Sure he'd always wield a sword and bow, though I'm also thinking spear now.

Aikurisu In reply to PoldalleLovesnare [2009-03-08 06:51:22 +0000 UTC]

Eheh... well... once, I thought the storyline and characters were well done, but it seems as the Dynasty series evolves into each new sequel, so does the gay flavour become more apparent. Honestly, given the nature of the series' rich background sources to feed from, it just feels as if the designers have cheapened the true history behind the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and then some. Which is tragic, because I really enjoyed the series until I bought DW5 the other day and almost died laughing when Zhou Yu opened his english dubbed mouth, and how Sun Jian's fate was cast in it. How he was a military leader in DW5 is beyond me. A leader into an idiot's trap, yes. But... even the nice rain effects couldn't save him, and neither will the ridiculous new design they've given him for the latest installment. Yikes. XD

Samurai Warriors on the other hand... it just feels like a better story is told all round, where it feels like there's a much more solid cast and the voice acting within is more thought out... save for a couple of lead characters; one in particular sounds like he was learning english lessons with the teenage mutant ninja turtles... while surfing.

mmmm well yeah, the storylines twists from each game have puzzled me some. I own DW6 and it's rather twisted from some of the earlier stuff that I'm like "hey?! where's the friendship between these people?! what the heck?!".....but I don't know the exact history from before so it was awesome getting to learn history in such a fun manner. And I've never played Samurai warriors so I can't judge versus it....but I also prefer the look of the DW characters from snippits I've seen of the SW just artistically so...they're prettier in DW in my opinion lol! I am a girl after all and do enjoy my perdy long haired boys that I'm SURE didn't look that way in truth in history! lol! and yeah some of the voices or words they say [like yelling "right on!" ...oh yes...they said "right on" in Chinese history people o.O ] can make ya arch your brow...but I love the games nonetheless. heh

Aikurisu In reply to PoldalleLovesnare [2009-03-10 17:53:23 +0000 UTC]

lol, I have nothing against long haired guys either, because I happen to be one.

Seriously, though, I think Samurai Warriors has a much better battle system in some ways. Especially from what I found out in DW5 about how restricted you are with riding mounts. In SW2, you could do much more with them, which made mounted combat far more enjoyable. Oh, and as for character designs... Mitsuhide Akechi's character is awesome, despite some of the girly elements they've given him for the sake of how he addresses other characters. He's still awesome to play as though. Him and Nagamasa Azai... who in SW2 Empires just made you wish you could rewrite history for his sake, because his character depiction in it was compelling and honourable. Of course, the other cool thing in that game was that the main part of it was fun and strategic to a point. You could actually build your army from just a couple of nonamed officers and take over all of Japan, one province at a time. The customisation just spoke volumes over the Dynasty series for some reason to me. Still... I had a lot of fun creating my own original characters for it and having them defeat all the known ones. A bit like an alternate reality, really. >_>

lol so I recall from that lil devID you did I've an affection for long haired men lol

and I love looking at the costumes and appearances in the games for artistic inspiration for trying to add flavor to my own costumings and whatnot

in DW6 for PS2 your mount is like your special counterpart instead of bodyguards...and you can get special horses that level up to do different things like find other saddles, find weapons, recharge your mousou and stuff like that and they have different speeds attacks and elemental attacks they can get that activate when they crash into people. And they can jump...but still that's the best of it with your horse and you can't get the other special saddles you could before like RedHare...he's in the game but unless you knock LuBu or Guan Yu off of him and hop on his back and run around with him you can't ride him heh. But I have to say, regardless of either game that has to be one of the coolest ways to learn history, no? lol

oh yeah! we have DW5:Empires too and I made some of my own officers that I just LOVE! The main one being SunHanDe...he's a young "wizard" strategist that has ZhugeLiang's fighting style and he's kinda an aggressive tactican with my mom's made character Danai that has XuHuang's fighting style as his main general who is like this brute of an aggresser but both are kinda boyish cute in their faces and kinda chubby to a degree but they're so much fun to play together....we built such a prestige for them taking over China so many times during the different strategy scenarios the player characters run from them lol! Danai at least...they try to gang up on poor lil SunHan lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aikurisu In reply to PoldalleLovesnare [2009-03-18 08:55:42 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that would actually make better sense to have the mount more helpful than those damn bodyguards. I honestly thought they were worthless when I was too busy racing from here to there on horseback. You were able to jump with horses in the Samurai Warriors series too, though nothing quite indepth like you said about them in DW6... though I do recall that you had to level them and the rarer fully-grown ones had stats like with one you couldn't be knocked off by any form of attack, or that when you ran over enemies with another, they lighted on fire.

Eh, personally, I actually prefer it that ones like Red Hare were unobtainable anyway, so you were raising a legendary steed of your own. That's why I wish those games were a bit more customisable with created chars, because when I was playing SW2 Empires, they were all I ever used, save one or two mains that had styles you couldn't use for created chars. Mitsuhide was too fun to ignore, plus his story was bendable.

lol, sounds cool about your custom characters. I remember I had quite a few custom chars, but only one or two were quite memorable; especially this one ninja who I used to wipe entire zones before the enemy even realised what had happened... heh. And then there was this one dude with a zweihander sized blade that just made everything look all too easy. I should play it again and give names.

ahhh...sounds like a mix of some of the other abilities they offered in different DW games. in the other DW games you could get special saddles to specific horses, like in DW4 [I'm pretty sure] and DW5...you could get saddles to a horse that you couldn't get knocked off of, one that increased your attack while mounted, and ....there was another special one....but I'm not remembering it right now.....vs like in DW6 the horses just have different abilities like being able to find other horse saddles, find you weapons, charge your mousou and elemental attacks when you level them up and they eliminated instead the other saddles you could get before like Hex Marx [sp? o.o] and Red Hare and whatnot...

oh yeah, I wish that if they made like a DW6Empires, you could get special horses too so I could raise a special horse up with my created character to be like THEIR horse and make it all part of THEIR legend to make their own storytales

lol! sounds like fun! hehhe...I've been meaning to draw some of my custom DW characters and post up the lil storyline ideas I'd come up with for some [or at least the basics "oh yeah, they ruled with this person as their general" or "they were general to this person" based on who we teamed em up with ....and I did make a "fan" Zhang He's wife character lol! ] but I just haven't gotten to it @.@

lol, with my character's lore, I just imagined the continent of Japan in Empires was like an area in my fic's world, and that it was in forever turmoil till my characters came along and unified the lands under a single banner. Though I did play it out a bit! I always attempted to wait out and watch how the different clans fought each other and didn't make a move till one of them attempted to do war for my lands. But after I got to a certain part of the continent, like when I had to confront the Oda clan, I pretty much donned my 'This evil must be purged from the lands!' train of thought and marched against their territories while saving those they terrified. But of course... no alliance lasts forever... and the object of the game is to unify the 'world' under one banner. So after a few years of good will, it was just a matter of waiting for them to make the first move of treachery so I had an excuse. >_>

Btw, I checked my char's in SW2 Empires earlier. Renvar Okezai was definitely my finest character, who was considered 'clever'. Though he was never the true leader of my armies; only my main general under the banner of a certain princess and her ambition to claim back her birthright over the lands. She fought with Ina's style, so she was a quiet unassuming princess with a bow. Which, honestly, is much better than Ina herself. Gah, and to think I used to like her. Her character is just overly 'up her feminist arse' annoying now. Why Koei... why... XD

Anyhoo, question! DW6. I imagine you have the PS3 version? If so, is there the option where you can have japanese voices with subtitles instead of the english sub like it always was with the PS2 games? That's one of the reasons that turned me off DW5 before I even got into it, and is why I love Namco for including the Japanese voice option for the Soul Calibur series.

I hear word DW6: Empires will be released in the US by the end of June/July too. Unfortunately, it will probably be half a year after it before it's even released beyond to Europe and here. So... I guess I still have time to consider whether I want to get a PS3 now or still hold on to the belief that Sony will wise up and return the PS1/2 backwards compatibility to the system.

lol oh yeah...see, normally I play with my mom..and she's very much "rawr! kill em all!!!!" in most any game ya play @.@...not very tactical...so it can get to become less of a story and a rush to win everything....but I do always try to keep up alliances with characters who's personas I like...and those that I despise..I'm like "fuck no!" lol....I try to go after those that are "more wicked" in my eyes, or my character's eyes, and try to be kind to the goodly people...until of course, like you say, the goal is to win everything ....and I'll try to beat the good people and just accept them into my army. Trying to help create more "storyline" to it

lol oh yeah there's a few characters, guys and girls, that drive me up the wall! @.@! lol

actually no we don't have a PS3 ..heh...but I don't think there's an option to turn it to Japanese....I'll have to look....I know DW3 had one...we'd giggle at how often it sounded like they were saying strange English words...and Godzilla o.o lol...

hmmm...I wonder if it'll release for just PS3 then though....I'd like to get a PS3...but they're still expensive and I don't want to give up all the other 1&2 games we have too .....

lol, your mother reminds me of a friend I once had... and my brother. Both weren't really into my ideals of prolonging battles for the sake of good story... so I eventually realised that had much more fun playing these kind of games without them. XD

Speaking of that friend... I was a diehard fan of SW: Battlefront II, and we often played together. However, I did not share his sense of humour when he randomly shot an allied soldier because 'they were there'. So I usually just executed him on the spot for high treason after it. Felt good, because most of the time he couldn't outmatch me when he pissed me off and I went hunting for him. A bit like a grunt facing a commanding officer in skill. Still, he got better over time... a little.

Eh, I may just get a PS3 in the next month or so. There's a nice long list of games now on it that would keep me away from the internet for weeks on end, and I still have Soul Calibur 4 to play... little lone DW6... I'll only aim for Empires though. Just more fitting for my imagination.

PoldalleLovesnare In reply to Aikurisu [2009-03-26 05:06:03 +0000 UTC]

lol! yeah my brother's the one that'll try to prolong a battle to get all the objectives or to make a better storyline...or like when he's playing a new game he'll try to explore EVERYWHERE just to make sure he doesn't miss a thing lol..sad thing is he tends to like one-player games moreso....

niiiceee! I often shoot my comrades in that game on accident...and good god if I'm Grevious...STAY away! I slaughter everything friend or foe and then go "oops!!!" because he just kinda..flails...and I have too much fun beserking everywhere that I can't always tell which is my ally until after I've cut it down and gone "whoops o.O" lol my bro's the best at that game...though I'm a kick butt pilot

I wanna see what they'll do with Empires...because if I can try to recreate some of the characters I made on DW5 into the DW6 game too to run around and play with I'd love to! lol

lol, sounds like your brother and I would get along swell. And that's the thing. That friend I spoke of who killed allies randomly without care-- I haven't spoken to him for the last half year on certain bad terms between us. Sadly, it's awakened the notion that I much prefer playing games without him, so whether that makes me anti-social or more a perfectionist at gaming... *shrugs* >_>

And agreed about Grevious. XD Obi-wan certainly was my favourite hero character in that game, because his moves were very precise and didn't leave him open to attacks if he missed the mark. Same with the twi-lek jedi chick too. Windu on the other hand... bleh. If only he thought as well as he did in the Clone Wars cartoon series on CN. THEN he'd be the best hero character in any game, hands down.

I'm looking forward to Empires too, though I'll only get the PS3 version, and if it has the option to select the Jap language with subtitles. I just can't take the DW series seriously with the english voices...

On further note, I also heard they cut out the swimming or something in the PS2 version? Another reason to go PS3. >_>
