Description (Woo~! This creation is to mark my second year anniversary here at DA!)

-- The 23rd are thrown into a deseperate counterattack to save their loved ones on Aldrasyn while taking on the brunt of the Alliance's forward fleet in Repenter Gunships.

When the ANS Missionori reached the outer planetary world of Aldrasyn, we onboard were welcomed as comrades among the nelri refugees of Zarmyn 4. However, despite our warmongering Alliance command's hidden interest in seizing the planet’s natural resources for the war effort, we thought for a better plan. For what seemed like a few months orbiting the planet’s atmosphere by our superiors' orders; we broke contact with them and ended up helping those who fled the war for years… and their company wasn't half bad either. Our aid saved them from what would have been barbaric times ahead, cultivating the world’s lands into something that reminded many of us of home… at least the one we carelessly forgot. Granted, Aldrasyn was peaceful before the Alliance arrived to check on things, who were now too inconsolable to trust. They marked us as traitors - marking us within their crosshairs as we prepared the flight deck for retaliation. It was no mere hallucination though when the Alliance’s forward fleet fired past us to the world we had called home – acting to obliterate our dreams. For the moment, the fine men and women of the bridge stared at one another in shock when we learnt news that the capital city took a direct hit from their first barrage. After that? …well I could hardly remember what I was feeling. Mostly everyone else was hit with rage while some others were hit by remorse. But as we sent out the 23rd, launching from our only ship to face an entire armada opposing our new way of life; I reached into my pocket to retrieve my family… only a mere photo now if God had left us surely to die. Perhaps if I was left on Aldrasyn, every minute left with them sounded far better than the war I was about to commit to.

lol, well me feeling pretty damn good is questionable, XD But I'm happy you're happy, and happy for everyone else that thinks I did well here! It's still unchartered lands to me though. The whole space concept needs a bit more exploring into. ^_^

I envy your willpower, Rain. Not only do I never write or improve my skill, but I never work at art either. I remember when you first commited yourself to becoming an artist all that time ago when we were still on SoA World. You were God-awful , but had a rough talent for it. Now, look how far you've come! Keep moving forward, Rain. You can only go on to new heights!

Woo hoo! Awsome!
Particularly love the work on the beams. Ships don't look half bad either, cool battle damage effects.
Beams actually kind of rememind me of Freespace2

Thanks man! Yet I haven't had the chance of playing that game before. What's it like? I was a huge fan of Starlancer, that appeared on the Dreamcast ages back. Just the whole look about it was awesome, such as the ship designs and the crates you flew around in. I bought Freelancer too, but I haven't really played that game all that much... I should though.

Freespace2 in a word, Rocks. It is possibly the most intense space combat sim I have EVER played. No, that's not right. it IS the most intense. Picture it:
You're in your fighter, defending your massive carrier as it engages multiple capital class targets. Flack is bursting all around you (friendly and enemy), while you try and dodge the fire from the three enemy fighters on your six. Suddenly space turns bright pulsateing green and you snaproll out of the line of an anti-cruiser beam, avoiding being vaporized by inches. You continue your spin, watching your sensors 'cause you can't make out shit in the viewport. An enemy indicator centres in the sensor window, an bomber headed for your carrier. You kick the burners, pull out on his tail, then jam your finger down on the trigger as you close in for the kill. But don't get to close, 'cause the gunners on the carrier are returning fire. Anti-fighter beams, flack and all manner of ordinace lance up at you, but now there's another fighter on your tail and it's time to be somewhere else... Repeat for duration of mission...

Ok, yeah, I love it. If you get a chance, play it.

Hehe, I remember how much fun it was for one mission in Starlancer where all the odds were stacked against ya. Some of the missions were just massive, like when the Alliance went to take on the Coalition's secret massive particle cannon... You had the assistance of a couple of capital ships, but you see one get obliterated right before your very eyes when it got in too close. In the end, I had to scream in avoiding the beam myself while unleashing a few Jackhammer torps into a prime location. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The game flowed very cinematically in its missions, and some were just beautiful to be a part of. My very first space fighter sim as well.
