Hullo, do you like fairytales?
This is a short story I wrote.
It is about a boy who loves colours, but is tragically colourblind.
If you read it, thank you and I hope you enjoy.
If not, thank you also.

I hope everyone has lovely dreams tonight.

This is so beautiful. I found the comic on smackjeeves months before and I suddenly found this on deviantart just now. I've been re-reading that comic over and over and it's served as my inspiration for a really long time! I was so happy when I found this here

The witch? She took all the colours of the world and baked a rainbow cake. Then she ate it and got a terrible stomach-ache. XD

So the witch ends up with a stomach ache.. I was hoping for a sequel like 'Colourblind:Return of the Witch' or something like that >_<

I really collect children's books, especially arsty, obscure ones. I don't know, they are just so whimsical and beautiful. I don't have kids yet, but they will have the best books ever

Hi there
Oh you're always so humble about your achievements! i had no idea about the prize. This story is wonderful, and the illustrations fit brilliantly. I'm always surprise by the way you use collage. I've never mastered that technique, it gives such rich effects.
You should totally print it!
I'm your great fan! and patiently waiting for new works

airahnn In reply to Zzoha [2012-04-16 20:13:44 +0000 UTC]

thank you Zzoha, you are an awesome artist and I am a huge fan of your work too. Oh, I won the competition a long time ago, I did not think I should keep announcing it, haha. ( I did mention it on Tumblt though! )

I actually did not use much collage except for the first page with the windmills. Everything else is watercolour + Photoshop! Artists who have greatly influenced collage for me would be nokkasili [link] and charizen [link] Check them out!

s it was late, I haven't yet read the story, but the illustration itself fascinated me.

After reading the story, I can confirmed it's just as wonderful, if not even mot charming. It's a lovely work is all aspects.

*SCREAMS*
I JUST READ IT
OMG omg ;n;

It was so beautiful! At first I thought oh no this poor boy, is this going to be a sad story? And then it ended up being so happy and uplifting and AWESOMMMMMMMMMMMME >8D And of course, so incredibly beautiful! You can write and you can draw, such a wicked combo. I guess it's always kind of been a goal of mine to write & illustrate (or at least illustrate - I don't have faith in my writing abilities LOL) a children's book. You have so totally inspired me just now, it's nuts <3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

airahnn In reply to Paimonerra [2012-04-16 06:56:12 +0000 UTC]

OMG PAI ;u;
thank you so much! I am really honoured that you read it and liked it enough! Yes, I am aware of the heartbreak potential a story like this could have, but I figured that the world is already full of sad stories, haha. Besides, it was written for a children storywriting competition, so I don't think children would want to read a sad story.( I still want to write sad stories though XD, next time maybe )

Omg, Pai you should try ! I am really curious to see what you can come up with with that wicked style of yours. : D I am thinking it would look really cool for a comic~!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Paimonerra In reply to airahnn [2012-04-21 21:38:32 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome! Yes I suppose it would make sense to have the book NOT make children want to cry until the end of time and feel that life is hopeless... I wonder if picture books for adults are a thing, because I'd be down with that kind of bizarre and unexpected juxtaposition haha.

Ah man I'd love to! Comics are too far from my understanding though I'm extremely interested in them. I think a picture book would be an easy starting point and I could work up from there. I just have this issue with consistency...
