Description
My brain works in strange ways.
When I was a kid (about three to five) I was a hardcore astronomy geek. I also had an audio cassette (Yes I grew up in the nineties) of an album called "the Planets". I can't quite remember the artist, but each of the weird electronic/instrumental songs was inspired in a planet, or at least their esoteric "essence". I loved that album, and I used to imagine the wonders of each world while I listened.
Fast forward a few years, when I was about 8 or 9 my dad bought the album "Mutter" by Rammstein, and I saw again the mental pictures of the planets, with the additional benefit that, by that age, I was -sort of- capable of expressing them through drawings. Each song corresponded to a planet, and it took me various repeats of the album to draw them all. I retrospective those drawings are LAME... I still have them somewhere... but at the time, that ability to form and draw mental pictures from what I listened became quite the discovery for me. Succesive albums by Rammstein corresponded so well with what I imagined that it became a sport for me every time a new album appeared in my house. After a few years I did succesively Sehnsucht, Reise Reise and Rosenrot... each spawned like three or four iterations of my mental pictures on the planets, that evolved from simple glyph-like doodles, to semi-mechanical creatures and fantastic spherical aliens inspired in the information I had on the appearence and characteristics of the entities in the solar system, as well as the tone and feel of the songs.
My last iteration on these "spirits" was made almost 10 years ago, and I found it a few month ago while I was skimming trough my old drawings in the attic. I figured that after so much time and all the new things that I've learned since 2005 it would be cool to revisit these concepts and improve them. Last night I did some sketches based this time not in music, but in the physical, astronomical and occult characteristics of the Planets.

Life, from a planetary point of view, can be interpreted in two different ways; as an innovation, or as a deterioration... either way, life is something extremely weird.
As the signature feature of Earth, we living creatures act as parasites, but also as modyfiers and even emmisaries. The ammount of crazy going on here is waaaaay greater than everywhere else, things change extremely fast, new things emerging and disappearing all the time. I guess the Spirit of Earth, the true "gaia" would reflect that. Something constantly growing and decaying, entirely neutral to the developments of it's creations, not admiring them, nor hating them... just letting them be, even at it's own expense.
In stark contrast, but also very important symbolically, the Moon is a dead world bound by another kind of neutrality... a static one. Something born to be frozen in time; quiet, colorless... grayness born of fire, but slowly cooling off while staring at the craziest place in the system...

If you think about it, a Parasite's host is its World. something in which it depends and grows from... whether that means something good or bad for the host is a different story! Lately I've been all about neutrality, I like that concept... of balance, and this particular "character" is based on that concept.
As living things our relationship with the planet is kind of... complicated, for us, at least... we do change it, but not in a really big way... literally we're been just scratching the surface of this world so far. And until very recently we were bounded by it, contained... now it's starting to be different... we've entered a travelling phase, so the question arises... should we spread life to the dead corners of the cosmos? Would that mean we're contagious?

No problemo. I'm feeling it these days, too.
Yes, inner dimensions -- dreams... altered-states... different/multiple/overlapping vibrational states/brain waves states etc.
OBEs and lucid dreaming in particular... consciousness 'unbounded'.
I loooove sacred geometry...
Time travelling?... Inner so-called space seems to be non-linear/non-time... though my personal experience so far indicates a sense of 'real time' 'as it's happening' that translates equally to our version of 'time' in our apparent con-sensus 3D 'reality'. (did that make any sense? lol)
Lifeless...? I'm thinking all corners are 'inherently life-full' (consciousness throughout). Life forms pop up after-the-fact.
I think.... life just pops up wherever there is consciousness. It's inevitable. We already have that power -- here we are -- manifest.

Another amazing work of art! You really illustrated the difference and opposite nature between Earth and our Moon quite well. I reckon seeing this in motion would be even more affecting as you’d then have the static opposed to the ever-changing and tumultuous...
This series of pictures also kinda makes me think of the sounds of the planets ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQL53e…) which are created by the different frequencies and radiations they give off (that have then been converted into sounds we can hear)

Ohhhh animating these would be cool!!!
I loved those sounds in the video, They have a disctinct sort of character! Saturn is particularily haunting!!

I reckon animated versions of this would go along quite nicely with those sounds. Even in this static version and without being aware of the sounds the planets emit, I feel like you managed to capture the feel of them really nicely. They fit your interpretations of the planets’ spirits really well.
