In germany we try to get together with good friends and/or our family. Mostly we watch tv while eating fondue/raglette and we always count down the last minutes until the new year starts. Then we clink glasses of champagne. After that we start shooting fireworks and have a lot of fun XD Ah- And it's kind of custom to see "Dinner for one" lol

umm, we watched the big ball drop in New York (with family of course) then toasted with apple cider. after we watched fireworks. but it might be different with others. i'm a first generation american (immigrant parents)

the big ball drop is basically a big crystal ball mounted on a pole. once it's about thirty seconds or so 'til midnight they press a button and the ball slides slowly down the pole. at exactly midnight the ball hits the bottom of the pole and sends out fireworks and confetti and whatnot to celebrate the new year. it happens in times square in New York. it airs all across the country on various channels 'cause it's a really big deal here. i guess it has become a tradition in america to watch it and a bunch of people go to times square on new years eve to see it in person.
