“Heart’s. Alright. I have a crush on the little book worm” He said sweetly.
Me...He liked me? No...No, this had to be a joke. Me? Why me? I’m nothing special and, I was always in here. Shy? Me shy? was he crazy? I continued to watch as they talked. Although there mouths moved I heard nothing. No words, no sound. When they left the only thing I heard was the door closing behind them. I laid there, just staring at the rows of book before me. The only thought running through my head was what he had said. Me? It...There was no way that he was telling the truth. Slowly and carefully, I put my egg on my back, grabbed my books and climbed down and book case. Not knowing what else to do and my reading mood killed, I numly walked back to the room. Being careful to avoid anyone and for sure, him. When I got to the room, I slid the door open slowly, pulled it shut behind me and fell to my bed.
“What wrong with you” Aki said around a sewing needle.
I looked up to see her working on Johns bag, three needles stuck out from the bag and one between her lips.
“You're still not done with that?” I asked quietly.
“No, I fell asleep while making mine and I never got around to his, so I’m doing it now.” She said spitting the needle out, “This way we can deliver them together.”
I shot up into a sitting position, “No. I Can’t... I...Um...Have things to do. Could you do it for me?” I asked, squirming in my spot.
“No. You said you would come with me and its only fair for the person who made the bag to give it to the new owner. Also, I saw what you did to Lee and Kj’s bag so I’m doing the same for John’s.” She said back.
“What did I do?”
“You put the dragon mark on the side. Whats wrong with you?” She asked, putting the bag down.
“Nothing.” I said back, tuning my head so I wouldn't have to look her in the eyes.
“Nothing my ass. Whats up? You know you can talk to me, right? I mean, we are going to be together for seven years, that's the least I could do.” She said softly.
I sighed knowing that she wouldn't let me go until I told her but, I didn't want to tell her until I knew how to feel about it. I felt uneasy and weird'ed out by the whole thing.
“I just miss home ok. I’m happy I got picked but I was kinda hoping to go back home and see everyone. I’m just bummed out” I said as I looked down.
“Well if that's all why didn't you say so. How about me and you go have some sister fun time? That should take her mind off things. Your always in that dusty old library, you need some human interaction.” She smiled.
“I get enough interaction from my books” I said quietly.
“We are going out and that's it, ok. No ‘oh I can’t’ or shit like that. ok?”
I nodded and watched as she got back to work. I still wasn't up of giving that bag to him so I had to find a way not too. I didn't want to be mean to him or make Aki do it herself but, There was no way I could face him. I stood, told Aki was going out from a bit longer and then left. She screamed after me to be back in an hour or two so we could deliver the bag’s. Alright. Two hours to get myself hurt, sick, or too mentally disable to deliver. I can do this.

Apparently, trying to get yourself hurt or sick is impossible if you're a master. I tried to go to the kitchen to see if I could find some bad food and, I got kicked out by everyone there. I guess I can only go in there if its late as hell or, the chiefs aren't there. Also, I couldn't go anywhere near the mountain without a priests trying to run after me, telling me that I should not go up alone. I even asked some random guy if you would beat me and he just looked at me funny. I even went to the library, climbed my book case and fell off. I guess I have harder bones then I thought.
I sat upon the library floor, tapping my fingers against my knee , thinking of some way to get sick, yet nothing was coming to my mind. I had tried to get hurt and that wasn't working so my last hope was to get sick. Sadly, There was no way to get sick here. This whole place was clean and well washed. Crap. I hung my head in defeat and walked back to the room.
“Hey you” Aki said loudly as I walked into the room.
I looked over at her and whispered a hello. With nothing else to try, I flopped onto my bed and groaned.
“Hey I want to leave in a few moment to deliver the bags” She said as she gathered up the bags.
I only groaned louder and shoved my head into my pillow. I could hear Aki telling me it was time to go but I refused to get up. She huffed, grabbed my arm and pulled me. Still, I stuck to my bed like a fly on sticky paper.
“You promised” Aki begged.
I pulled my head from my pillow and looked at her. At that moment she reminded me so much of Izz. Izz would always beg me to go play, or help her with her work, or grab her a snack. Though what really reminded me of Izz was she would always use, ‘you promised’ against me. I hated to break my promises. I stood, grabbed the bags and put on a small smile.
“Alright. I’m sorry. Lets go” I said softly.
Aki smiled as she bounced off across the courtyard. I sighed heavily, put on a smile and followed her. Though about half way there she stopped, looked to the red doors, and then took off.
“Aki!”I shouted.
“Go on without me. I want to see what’s going on” She yelled back.
It was then that I noticed that the big red doors were open. They were never open...Yet they were today. The priest stood with a new guy talking calmly, or what was calmly before Aki burst in. I shook my head and continued the short walk to the boys room. I took a huge breath and knocked on the door.
“Its open!” Someone yelled from inside
Slowly I opened the door. Though I stopped about halfway when I thought I was going to die.Lee was in the bathroom doorway, doing pull up’s. He had one of those bars that you could screw into the door frame so it would hold the person's weight. He stopped after a moment, gave a weak smile, let go of the bar, pulled his irish green wife beater off and went back to working out. I stood there in the doorway, Face not only brig red but my whole brain turning to mush without me saying a word.
“So, What do you want?” He asked, pulling himself up.
“I...I...Ummm….I…” I tried to get out. My hand shook my head spun and he reached for me.

When I awoke I was still in Lee’s room and Kj was standing over me with a needle no more than an inch from my face. I instantly pushed him away, got up, and bolted from the room.
“Hearts wait!” Lee shouted.
I didn’t want to stop, I wanted to run, run far away yet, my feet had a mind of there own and tripped me. Now I was laying face first in the grass, crying and I had no clue why. I laid there feeling utterly lonely.
“Hey, don’t just lay there,” Lee said as he came over and grabbed my arm.
I didn't want to push him away yet I didn't want his help yet, I let him help me and hold me close. He rested my head on his shoulder and gently shushed my cries. I couldn't remember the last time I cried, the last time I was held, Or I felt like I belong. I know that when I was with Ms.Rose I felt like I had a mom but she was always just that. This feeling was different, like I belong with someone my own age.
“Lee...I” I sobbed.
“Its ok, calm down.” He whispered.
“No. I’m sorry…I should go” I said as I tried to move away.
He pulled my back and asked me gently, “Can I say something before you go?”
“I suppose” I said softly.
“I don’t know what it is about you but, when I met you I just wanted to be around you more. Though I could never get the words out right and we fought. I’m sorry for that. I would really like to see more of you… If you know what I mean” He said as he looked at me sweetly.
“I know. I feel the same, though I barely even know you” I whispered, closing the gap between us.
“Maybe we can fix that”

He looked down at me and gave a small smile. Not knowing what else to do, I brought my arms up and wrapped them around his neck, making me stand up on my toes. I hadn't even noticed but while I was doing that, he was putting his hands on my hips and pulled me up a bit. Slowly and nervously, he leaned down and placed his lips upon mine. Yet again I tasted sweetness, bitterness, and a coppery taste. I smiled and kissed him harder. I liked kissing him and me liked kissing me I guess. When we pulled apart we were not only breathless but we were both smiling.
“Hearts you have to meet the new guy!” Aki said as she jumped me.
I feel to the ground, aki sitting on me, rambling about something. Moment ruined. I sat up, pushed her off and asked what was babbling about.
“Thar’s a new guy over here. The pretest just gave him a tour and now he needs some friends so I told him he could hang with us,” She said happily, “Was I interrupting?” she asked.
Now she noticed, “Yes you did but, sure lets go meet this new guy” I said as I reached for Lee’s hand. He helped me up and then walked with over to where the new guy stood.
“Hi I’m Hearts” I said as I put my hand out.
He shook it, gave a little smile and then looked away.
“I'm Lee and I’m sure you know Aki so, what’s your name?”
The guy looked over at Lee, blinked as if he was confused then whispered his name, “I’m Talon.”
It was then that Aki took his hand and dragged him over to Lee’s room, hoping to get him to meet the other brothers. I shook my head and walked back with Lee. Talon was about the same height as Lee, maybe a little taller and he had black hair that went down to shoulders or longer. He was pale, well built, blue eyes, and was skinny. His outfit though stood out the most, He wore a pair of baggy jeans that was covered in chains, a black hoodie, and some ragged shoes. After he had met John and kj, who almost coughed up a lung on the poor kid, I asked him why he was here.
“I’m here to take the place of someone” He said softly.
“Take their place?” I asked.
“Yes apparently they had some family problems and had to leave the temple so I’m the next best fit for the egg” He said softly.
“Do you know which dragon you're getting?” Aki asked excitedly.
“No” He said back, “But they told me that they would be bringing it to me as soon as they could.”
“Well Its nice meeting you but I would like to hang with my girlfriend alone for a bit” John said as he wrapped his arm around Aki’s waist.
“Also me and this one have to talk” Lee said as he looked at me.
“Alright,” Talon said
With that, Lee grabbed my hand and began to drag me back over to my room. I didn't want to say anything so I just let him.
