I know some of you really dig my vampire comics, but honestly, the media is so saturated with vampires right now (thank you, Twilight) that I find it harder to get excited about drawing these, as if I'm contributing to a fad. That's not to say you won't see more of these this year, it's just... well, a chunk of the population--who won't be identified here--have turned vampires into angsty teen heartthrobs, and I can't tell you how obnoxious that is. Sigh.

Well, I suppose we'll have to make due with lesser-known mythological entities, like Nuckalavees, Kappas, cyclops and trolls. Actually, no trolls. Encyclopedia Dramatica's got plenty of those, and frankly they can keep 'em.

Yeah, there's a great comic series by Brokenteapot here that is a fun parody of Castlevania--his main character--Nosfera the vampire is awesome.

I feel the same way you do about the commercialization of vampires. But like most trends, I think it will probably disappear and get replaced by something even more stupid that people can get behind. And if we're lucky, there will still be a few people like us who can keep the real vampire culture alive. And hey, I thik Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is still pretty decent and contains no teen heartthrobbery, just history and wooden stakes
So yeah, best bet is to just wait it out until the fad dies, shouldn't be too long with the short attention spans of people these days. I'm glad I found your work and I'll probably be watching you from now on...
