As a quiet person, Chihaya rarely bothers with small things and can't stand noisy people because he knows dealing with them would be a pain. That's why he prefers to be alone in calm places. Chihaya also can't follow imaginative people's minds since he will find himself rejecting whatever they're saying about their dreams. He believes imagining and dreaming are wasting time because instead of daydreaming, they should do something about it. Chihaya can be ambitious when he wants things. He will do whatever it takes to get something, and it'll be difficult to change his view once he decided not to. Since he does have the brain, he can use rather calculating and sly ways too.

Chihaya is actually a caring person. He does feel sympathy to the people around him, but he decided not to show it. He doesn't want to have anyone whom he cares nor trusts since he believes having someone like that is a weakness. But Chihaya realizes that it's just his act of defense because he doesn't want to be hurt when that someone leaves him in the end. In order to cover it, he tries to be a selfish person and not thinking about other people's business. Intentionally saying what he thought even if he knows it'll hurt them, doing things that might be a trouble for people, and also minimizes interactions with other people.

E.A. LEVEL:

Chihaya can somehow see moving things in details like he's watching them in slow motion. Let's say if you play hiding a ball inside a glass and switch it between the other two glasses--or even ten--in high speed, it's easy for Chihaya to point which glass has the ball inside it. But since he's not trained enough, sometimes he even sees things in slow motion even when he doesn't want to, which is straining him. His eye ability for now can only last for 10 seconds at one time.

While he can see things in slow motion, he still can't "enter" the situation he's seeing. He can only do something after the event takes place. So, like, when Chihaya watches someone steal a wallet in secret, he can't jump and takes their hand to stop their action because his movement is still in normal speed. By the time Chihaya can do something, the wallet will already be stolen.

BIOGRAPHY

Chihaya lived in a happy, small, normal family. Though he's the only child, he never felt lonely. His parents were always there for him, even though sometimes they were busy with their jobs. Chihaya was used to be an energetic and cheerful kid too. He had many friends and he thought he couldn't be happier. When he entered junior high school, his father's company went bankrupt and his parents became much busier since then. His father and his mother argued almost every night that Chihaya couldn't stand it. The distance between them grew further and they rarely talked during dinner when they used to tell about their days. Being stressed out, Chihaya's grade dropped so low that his parents physically punished them several times--resulting some permanent injuries including the one on his cheek. He grew to be secretive and even rebellious that he was involved with some fights.

His parents called a private teacher to fix Chihaya's grade. Her name was Kakinuma Iori. Her small appearance and her childish character hardly made Chihaya think she was his teacher. At first he didn't really care about her, but she was clingy and stubborn that he had to give up. Gradually, they grew closer that Chihaya felt she was his friend whom he could talk anything with. But once he entered 2nd year of high school, he realized it was more than that.

One day, he decided to tell Iori his feelings. But that day, she looked rather down--not like her usual self. She told Chihaya that she just broke up with her boyfriend whom she never mentioned before. Chihaya tried to cheer her up, but somehow it hurt him to know that she already had a boyfriend. She said they had been going out for almost 10 years since junior high school and things were going smooth between them. But recently he became busier that they rarely met each other. She thought it was because of his job, but the fact that she found him meeting another woman said different thing. When she asked him about it, he straightly answered that she was his fiancee and he asked her to break up at the same time.

After that, Iori then showed a smile that she should forget about it. She asked Chihaya to join her for a walk. They arrived at a park placed at the end of high ground. Iori walked closer to the cliff while saying that it was their favorite place back then. Chihaya got a bad feeling when Iori turned at him, smiling, and telling him that she was grateful to be his teacher for all these years. He already expected what will happen next, so he got time to catch Iori when she was about to fall. But Chihaya wasn't really ready, so instead, they fell together. All he could remember while he was embracing Iori during the fall, was her whispering, "Thank you."

Several hours after they landed, Chihaya couldn't believe he was alive. The cliff was high, and he felt that they hit rocks--a lot, he thought. Maybe he broke his bone or two, he guessed, but what he saw before him speechless. It was Iori. Though her expression looked serene and peaceful, Chihaya noticed her head was bleeding so much and she didn't reply when he called out to her. Some people came and helped them and brought them to the hospital, but Chihaya didn't want to lose his sight on Iori. By the time he lost conscious, he entered the Heat-Haze Zone.

He woke up three days after, with his parents by his side. He asked Iori's condition right after that, but his mother sobbed and shook her head--she didn't make it, and her funeral was already held two days before. Shocked, Chihaya decided to close his eyes and calm himself, trying to accept the reality he could no longer change.

After the doctor said Chihaya was completely fine, he went back to his usual life. Though his parents were almost back like before, he still couldn't bring himself to be like he was used to be. It was then when he stumbled in Heat Haze Zones quite some times and now he intends to find out more about it.

MISCELLANEOUS

When he got nothing to do, usually you will find him dozing off.
