Though I'm not all that interested in Hetalia pairings (the historical and cultural aspects are loads more fun) I do like all canon pairings, but don't usually read fanfics about them.

But then a beautiful (yaoi) fanart by alatherna ([link] ), an illustration to Daegaer's fanfiction "Like Cobwebs" ([link] ), got me interested, and I thought ok, let's give some Hetalia yaoi a try.

In the end it was a wonderful fanfiction, very well written with all the characters perfectly IC, great humor and thoroughly researched historical background.

The yaoi part was sweet, too, but the really interesting thing was the concept:
16th century Lithuania wakes up in the present, and not only has to cope with the confusing modern world but also a totally changed political landscape, and to try not to put his foot in it too much at an EU trade summit. XD

Anyway, I enjoyed the fanfiction so much (though by now I like another of Daegaer's stories even better: [link] ) that I decided to do a fanart.

I know there's tons of mistakes in it and the coloured pencils colouration is an epic fail, please just ignore it >_<

The buildings in the background, btw, are on the right the Royal Castle (built during the Commonwealth) and on the left Warsaw's modern landmark, the Palace of Culture and Science (which the Poles don't really like as it is a remnant of the Communist era. Ivan had them build in all Soviet countries so they wouldn't forget who's got the bigge-- I mean, who's the boss in the Eastern Block )
