Description This is a gift art for , who was kind enough to help me with my webcam animation back when I first showed up here and had no idea what i was doing. (I hadn't realized the webcam thing had to be a .gif file and also had to be posted on the web somewhere else first, hehe. *iz technologically challenged* -w-; )

So anyways, this is one of her characters. His name is Tips and I picked him because he's just so adorable! ^w^ He's carrying a jar of hugs just for you, ...thanks so much for all your help back then! Hope you like the pic!! ^w^

Tips is Β© Centurymon 2008. Image is Β© myself (Akagitsune/Oj Flohe) 2008. No stealing people!!!! >w<#

oh, i'm fanspastic here...school just started up again, so i'm buried in homework, but otherwise things are great. i have many, many artsy plans...just need to get around to doing them, hehe.

how bout you?? how's life after college? ^w^

Life after college... mm ... scary! Haha, but no, it's pretty cool not having to worry about homework.

I can definitely relate to all the artsy plans and not getting around to do them. This graphic novel is years late, but heck, I am finally doing it!

How long do you have til you are graduated? Any plans after that?

yay, that's awesome! i'm really excited about seeing your comic!!( i've been putting off my stories for about 10yrs now, hehe but characters are slowly beginning to emerge...[link] ) =3

well, i've got one year left after this one...but it will be part-time both semesters. after graduation, um...who knows?? i still lack decisive direction, haha! ^w^ how about you? please, please, please tell me you're gonna continue on with animation!!! OwO

Yeah, I saw that picture before, but being a poop, I didn't comment until now. I have seriously been slacking in the DeviantArt world. But, when I first saw that piece, I literally went "Aw" out loud. Such great talent, girl.

Yes, I want to do something animation wise, but for now, its all still images. I know what you mean about lacking decisive directions.... Do you have the same fear of becoming an animation artist, but then hating it because its your job and no longer your passion? Same goes for graphic novelist or illustrator; deadlines can just destroy you.

But... then again, you'll be making a living out of things you love. It could certainly go both ways. As for you, I can certainly see you having a future in animation. You have such a great hold on it, especially character design and development.

Akagitsune In reply to Littlenlost [2009-01-11 00:14:37 +0000 UTC]

haha, that's ok! whether you comment or not is totally up to you =3 and thanks! i appreciate your support! ^w^ (my self confidence in drawing battles with itself constantly...but then, that seems to be an artist thing, cuz i hear it a lot from others as well, hehe.)

anyways...yeah, i hear you there - doing what you love as a career does have the potential to take all the fun out of it. the alternative though, seems to be that you do what you hate with the intention of doing what you love on the side, but in reality never get time for it or continually put it off. *speaking from my own standpoint here, heh*

but yeah...i fear that and also, i'm a stubborn old goat who only wants to draw her own stories and animation. the thought of working for a large animation studio like pixar or disney is a total turn off for me. maybe a smaller studio would be better...with characters i could really get excited over besides my own. =3 ultimately, it would be nice to be an independent animator...but then again, if you want to make $ at it, ya gotta do what other people want ya to do anyway. -w-; i need to change my attitude, haha!

aw, thanks very much! i think you'd be an awesome animator/graphic novelist!! you have a great sense of artistic balance and motion in your work!(were you an art student at one time? methinks perhaps you were =3)

Haha, I am totally the same way -- I want to draw my characters and mine only, darn it. *stomps foot* But yes, big studios scare me. I have my eye on this one little animation studio in Chicago called Calabash Animation. They do a lot of commercial work and use a lot of flash-- a studio that would love you! You should check into it.

Yuppers, I was actually a fine arts major my freshman year but hated the constant rules: I mean c'mon, who gets a C for drawing an apple YOUR way? Once I realized there was an animation major, I immediately switched. Although it was a great decision, the fine art introductory classes really helped with my drawing ability. There was a large portion of the drawing class where we had to draw a still life without looking at our paper; we just kept our eyes on the objects in front of us. It was such an odd experience, but it makes you really LOOK at the object and really concentrate on the pencil to paper. The final product rarely resembled anything but squiggles, but it was a great experience.

hey thanks, i'll look into it! =3 (and Chicago's not that far away either...California gives me nightmares, hehe. OwO; )

ah, i thought so! ^w^ i was a graphic art student at a community college before attending GVSU...the class that helped me most though was figure illustration. i really hated drawing old, naked people, but it taught me a lot about anatomy. i still can't draw realistically worth beans, but i can apply the concepts to characters, so it's all good. =3

the only things that kept me from continuing on as an art student were the fierce competition, the "rules" (as you said), and unfortunately, the still lifes, hehe. i have a really short attention span for things that don't interest me, hehe...which is actually a very bad habit. someday though, i'd like to take some basic art classes again to refresh my memory about stuff...and possibly attempt to concentrate on things that would actually help me become a better artist. *lol* =3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Akagitsune In reply to ScaroDj [2009-01-01 02:25:24 +0000 UTC]

haha, i think she's far, far better than me, but i don't mind. i love to see beautiful artwork! ^w^

ah, i used to think that way as well...but you know, everyone has to start somewhere and whether or not we start at a really young age or not has to do with many, many factors...some of which are out of our control (like financial status, availability of tools and programs at a young age, having relatives who are artists, ect.)

when you see a really great artist, who knows what their background is?? maybe they had more opportunities, maybe not.

what really matters though, is that you don't ever let how talented someone else is stop you from doing what you want to do. i guarantee that EVERY artist started out not drawing well...it's just practice and opportunity that helped them get where they are now. and yes...talent is both practice and opportunity, because talent by itself goes nowhere without application and determination.

so, i guess what i'm saying here is: keep on drawing, keep practicing, practicing, practicing...take opportunity when you find it and someday you'll get where you want to be. just don't ever give up. ^w^

I always imagined that the essense of hugs would look like a ghost bunny. upper torso of a really cute bunny, and lower torso being one of those ghost tail effects. They'd fly off at people and give them cuddles until they're depleted.

aww ^w^ if you love bunnies so much, maybe you should consider getting a pet bun someday =3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SuperBunnyBun In reply to Akagitsune [2008-12-31 00:47:03 +0000 UTC]

I will, once I can devote an entire backyard for them to frolic around in. never liked the idea of forcing a pet to stay inside, and to let a bunny outside I'd need to give him a backyard he can roam around in and be safe, so I'd have to find some way to roof it over too so neighborhood cats can't get in, and place a fence of some kind under the ground a foot or so so he can't burrow out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Akagitsune In reply to SuperBunnyBun [2008-12-31 00:58:54 +0000 UTC]

or you could harness train your bun and take him for "walks" ^w^

it's really not recommended that you let buns run around loose outside, even in an enclosed yard...a small pen on the grass somewhere would probably work, but a whole yard is kinda big...catching them when playtime's over would be hell. owO; and then there's the issue of them eating outdoor plants...even if it's just grass, they can get worms from eating it and if it's been sprayed with pesticides at all, it would be harmful.

our buns don't seem to mind being indoors...i think taking them outside would probably scare them, since they have nervous temperments to begin with. well, 2 of them anyways...the other one might be alright. ^w^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SuperBunnyBun In reply to Akagitsune [2008-12-31 19:24:26 +0000 UTC]

well that's what I mean. al day would be playtime for them. I like giving my pets freedom of choice. wouldn't feel right to only let them out after tying them up on a leash and taking them to where I want to go. Nor to let them hop around for only a short time. I'd install a little dog door flap so they could hop in and out of the house whenever it pleased.

Maybe not a whole backyard, but at least 5 to 10 feet squared at least
