We're finally on vacation and I was taking pictures of my daughters. This is my oldest, Anna. 
This drawing took me awhile for some reason so I didn't even finish her sweater.

Fantastic portrait! May have taken you longer than usual, but the effort pays off in the face. What an accomplished drawing of a happy smile. (I personally find smiling/laughing faces very difficult to get right!)

Thanks! It can vary a lot. This particular drawing took me awhile as I had some tough time with the shadow portion of her face to make sure that shadow doesn't compete with light part but at the same time it shows definition of forms. So overall this one took almost 2 hours.

I usually don't have that much patience and go for speed Normally I can do a sketch in about 20-30 minutes and if I want to polish it a little further, then it would be about 1 hour. 2 hours or more, that means that there was probably something not right and I had to keep adjusting it.....I don't work in layers like I've seen a lot of people do with graphite pencils and rather use the same charcoal pencil and just vary the pressure on it, plus smudging using my finger to achieve the gradation of a tone. It's much faster that way vs layering.

I think maybe More light can be given to the eyes, nose upper shadow may be softer
