Name: Saya (sai-uh)
Description:
Quiet, strict, and level-headed, Saya is a gentle youth with a strong but sensitive heart and an undefeated fighting streak.

Saya was born and raised in the Dunes of Nesh’trak, the ocean-side dunes of the West. He was born into a low-class family, but his parents were both killed in a dragon raid caused by an unknown force. He was adopted as a baby by the tribal military leader, Lord Kurra, and raised as his son. Because of this, Saya is a military child, and he is very capable of fighting and hunting on his own.

Saya was always patronized by the other ocean dune children for having his single horn; his biological parents had been passing through when killed, so no one knows what Saya’s true specie is. He appears to be of the Dra’en (dragon) form, but has a wolf tail and ears, two attributes not shared by Dra’en. Some people suspect him to be a Halfling between a Dra’en and some other unknown people. His small stature and powerful but compact muscular figure are also attributes not commonly shared by the usually very large and heavily built Dra’ens.

Saya discovered his wind powers when he turned seven, and knew of his poison and dragon powers since childhood. His toxic blood and poisons secreted from his nails, skin, and fangs when angered or frightened caused him much difficulty in a small community where toxic beings were not commonly seen or encountered. He learned how to use his wind powers to sweep up sand into his opponents’ eyes and blind them when battling, a technique he found easily used and very useful in hand-to-hand combat. His dragon powers, since not developed by being in an area with little dragon activity, are weak and undeveloped. He finally left home when he turned fifteen to go under the tutorage of a warrior Dra’en known as Hahv.

For nearly two years, Saya trained his dragon powers under the dragon, and over time grew to master the art of physical combat using a pair of dragon blades known as ‘backlash blades’, which gave him good defense in combat, something he had not well trained himself in. He also learned to transform into his dragon/wolf (???) state that his teacher called “Viran-no’sha”, which means “One-horned Viran” in Dra’en tongue [a ‘viran’ is a legendary dragon of unknown origins].
