Here's something to think about...
1. Look at Hojo
2. Look at Vincent
3. Look at Sephiroth
4. Put picture of Sephiroth between Hojo and Vincent
5. Look very closely at all three.
6. Now...which one is the father?
Also ever noticed that they list Vincent in his twenties in the original game? How the H**l does that even work, when Vincent was either an older teen or young adult in the Dirge of Cerberus flashbacks!?

Why are people being SO CRUEL to Lucrecia?!

because, apparently a beautiful lady liking an experienced old scientist does not go well with modern tendencies of loving feminine guys instead. I like Hojo...really...Also, Lucrecia had her reasons, women tend to stay by the side of somebody who can help them overcome mental pain.

Well for me, guilt did that to her. Some people tend to disregard how powerful a motivation guilt can be. Not to mention that people bash Lucrecia for abandoning her son to the lab. Even if she did want to save Seph, she can't. Against a number of soldiers, with some of them also experimented like her, she would no doubt fail in any of her endeavor to save him. There's also no guarantee that she even knew where her son was hidden for her to attempt to make such a move. So, being carried on by guilt and can't kill herself, she did the only thing she could - trap herself in crystal.
I don't know about the Hojo/Lucrecia or Vincent/Lucrecia debacle. But as far as I've read, she chose to enter into a relationship with Hojo to escape Vincent. In my mind, I always believe why the appearance of both men is such a great contrast to each other is due to the motivation Lucrecia have when she entered into a relationship (don't wanna say it any other way *shudders*) with Hojo. I doubt she would let him court her if he was also as good-looking as Vincent. As someone who suffers from a guilty-complex, when she choose any lover, she would be thinking along the lines: I don't deserve someone like Vincent who have these qualities - good-looking, kind, caring and thus chose Hojo who was the antithesis of Vincent in both appearance and personality. She thinks that she deserves less and frankly, whether she was happy with her choice or not, she can't and won't do anything about it. A filth like her deserves nothing less than what she got (i'm not bashing her here by the way, just how I see her thinking about herself). Oh, she cared for Vincent alright, and possibly even after she was with Hojo but as I've said, she already chose her fate.
She may or may not care for Hojo we'll never know but Hojo certainly did not love her. I doubt he even did when he himself had no shred of humanity whatsoever.

Dr. Crescent's reasons were not romantic ones if that's what your thinking. There was a time where Vincent's father, Grimore Valentine was alive and he was working with Lucretia on something (forgot what, too lazy to search anyways) and an accident happened. Mr. Grimore saved Lucretia's life by sacrificing his. Lucretia was guilt-stricken by this and when she finds out that Vincent's dad was Grimore, she felt awful and 'prefered' Hojo over Vincent (I forgot why but I guess it's one of those things where guilty feelings don't lead to good life choices). If you don't believe me, look up the Final Fantasy Wikia.

Have you ever looked at a picture of Vincent and Sephiroth together-spitting image. A LOT of people have the theory Vincent is Seph's father, NOT Hojo. I think I have it worked out and explained it in my FFVII\Naruto crossover Demons Snow And Kunai. Here's my theory, it's taken from confirmed info from the games and what the developers tried to convey....
"Vincent didn't find out until recently that she had actually knew his father, had a major crush on him you see. Vincent's father-Grimore-taught her all about the legends of Omega and Chaos, and because she had such a crush on him, she went on to research that. She found Chaos, freed him from his prison in an crystal, and began to experiment with it. However due to an accident and Grimore pushing her out of the way in time, the man was contaminated instead and died."
(The scene in Dirge where the black light attacked. It was Chaos without form, without a body)
"I see" the Uchiha heir murmured "so she convinced herself he was her crush, or convinced herself she could remove her guilt by 'falling in love' with her crushes son."
Tifa nodded "Luecretcia was the assistant of an head scientist named Kayane Hojo, even though she also had her own projects. Hojo noticed this infatuation and wanted her for hisself, but he couldn't prove the thing between them had become physical because they were extremely careful" she glanced at the other "Shinra Senior had a rule against employees fraternizing with each other.
However there was one thing that Luecretcia couldn't soon hide, PROOF of their affair."
"Pregnancy" the black haired man nodded in understanding.
"Yes. Hojo got hold of an pregnancy test and proof of paternity that she had had and threatened both her and Vincent with exposure if she didn't do what he wanted. Knowing what would happen to Vincent for being the one to get her pregnant, she agreed.
Luecretcia would not tell Vincent it was HIS baby and allow Hojo to use him and her in his experiments. Even though Vincent was hurt by the idea the woman he loved was having another mans baby-or so he thought-he still loved her and did his job.
(The scene where Vincent faced Hojo and Lue and she acted like she had no choice)
The experiments of Jenovah cells and pure mako made Luecretcia very ill and she even apparently started having visions of what her son would become, and after watching her get sicker every day, Vincent confronted Hojo.
Only to loose his life.
Hojo kept his body alive with mako and experimented on him even though his soul had fled long ago to the lifestream, telling Luecretcia he would kill him outright if she didn't marry him."
The Uchiha heir frowned at her "marriage? Why?"
"Simple, to remove any of Luecretcia's rights to the child if she refused him. He forced her to proclaim himself the father. By now desperate she stole Vincent's body from him and was trying to bring him back. She had some desperate plan about using Vincent to stop her son when he went mad like in her visions. She was going mad herself by then.
As soon as the child was born, Hojo had Luecretcia proclaimed unfit to be a mother and took the child into his full custody. It was Luecretcia who put Chaos inside Vincent and Luecretcia who gave him the proto-materia to control themselves."
"Proto-materia?" the other asked.
"Yes, you've seen Chaos when he's out" when the other nodded she continued "on here" she touched her left side of her breast "There is an glowing clear ball with pink, white and silver swirling around constantly." When he nodded again she ended "THAT is the proto-materia. It is the only one of its kind and not only allows the lot of them control over themselves, but Vincent's connection and-if necessarily, his control over them. We also found out recently it was more." She told him how it was used to awaken Omega "obviously the lifestream wanted Vincent and Chaos to safe-guard it so no one could use it."
Did you know that Aeris and Sephiroth were supposed to be brother and sister? They would have been hadn't her mother escape with Aeris. So they were forced to use Jenovah. Hojo was under the misconception that Jenovah was Cetra, NOT an planet devouring parasite.

Interesting ideas. And ever since I discovered the fact thatΒ Aerith and Sephiroth were supposed to beΒ siblings, I theorize that the fact thatΒ Luecretcia and Aerith are so similar, is because they were supposed to be brother and sister. Also, one person on tvtropes, wrote that Hojo can be also Sephiroth's father figuratively- like Jenova is his mother, Hojo manipulated Sephiroth's transformation into a monster.

nescafevh In reply to Tsuki222 [2014-09-22 12:01:47 +0000 UTC]
That's true. I think Aeris knew, which was why she let him kill her. She could have easily avoided his weapon, but she didn't. Perhaps she thought she could save him from the lifestream or perhaps she KNEW her time was come. As for Hojo being Sephiroths father figure, well yes, of course he was. He RAISED him and in Crisis Core he IMPLIED Hojo was his father. Hojo probably told him from the moment he was old enough to understand that he was the product of Hojo's sperm and Jenovah's genetics, that he was nothing more than an experiment. A scene in Dirge implied that Hojo took him from Lue the moment he was born. I think no one knows why Hojo turned Sephiroth into a monster, perhaps he thought it was the only way to 'jog' the Cetra in him from Jenovah, prehaps he thought he could control him after that and make him his weapon, or maybe he just hated everything and everything and thought he could use him to destroy the entire planet-it would make sense when you look at him and Omega later on.
Maybe as a scientist Hojo saw everyone and everything as 'imperfect' and 'flawed' beings and felt he could do better, hence him becoming Omega and carrying those souls to another world. Perhaps he felt it would give him an chance to make a world of HIS choosing with beings of HIS choosing.

"cute" is definitely the farthest thing I would ever associate Hojo. He had no redeeming qualities whatsoever and that's all how I see him. There's a reason why Lucrecia went for him after all and she would no doubt won't pursue him if he's even as half as gorgeous as Vincent. Ever wonder about that?

I'm, like, a year late to respond, but still. I can't like cute-sexy-beautiful-feminine guys who are obviously made for everyone to like them. I mean, I like them, but not...in a sexual way, because I am too ugly to imagine somebody so beautiful compared to me at all. I always fall for the bad sort, because I am a bad sort myself. I know that in the plot Lucrecia had her very own formal reasons. But in general, I really do not see Hojo as bad and ugly. Maybe that's because he's old, and I have a certain liking to self-centered aged men who don't believe in God and have widespread sight. I understand why people hate him, but I do not agree with them...Lyra-Elante said I have odd taste in men, which is kinda strange, because what's so odd in wanting an experienced self-conscious person instead of some romance-flowers-chocolate bullcrap kiddo?

I understand you at this point (for I was taught the same way, cherish family, put aside ambitions meh), but in certain cases a person is free to choose his path. Moreover, professor is just insane, and old insane intelligent man who puts science above all. Β Hojo is not lower than trash, but you know who is in this fandom? President Shinra (not Rufus, but his daddy) Science is fine, but the one who would throw away everything for MONEY is trash. That's it. I got to the point where I am using leftside arguments. I'm sorry I'm just fine with people sacrificing stuff, animals and humans for exploration of the world, but I am not okay with those who do the same to get some cash...That's why I choose unmaterialistic types.

I understand that. I'm glad that I did not offend you with my responses. I could have avoided any conversation about this and suffer alone XD, but it just hurts so much that so many people judge Hojo, and it's fine when they judge him for his approach, because it makes sense, he's scary for most, distant and cold somehow...but scorning a person for his looks is another level of kindergarden. Thank you that you're not one of them. Otherwise it could have been a very panfully put conversation.Β

To some extent I am. But most of the time I will go for one with actual redeeming traits or whatever it is they possess that I want in a person so I'm at least fine that there are some who likes Hojo for their own reasons. But there are just some lines I can't cross and I know that even if Hojo's been the attractive one, I still would hate him. There's only so much I can tolerate out of someone and Hojo's traits just happened to cross the line.

It's not her fault, (*Spoilers alert ahead*) she felt guilty for the death of Vincent's father to the point of turning to Hojo and having him father Saphiroth. But if you ask me, I don't buy the whole "Hojo being Saphiroth's father" shenanigan. I mean the latter's resemblance to the former Turk is so uncanny, that there's no doubt to it. Vincent's a gentleman, and in all probability something like Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World probably happened. Where Hojo mind raped Lucretia, and Vincent (being the gentle hearted man he is) stepped out of the way believing that would make Lucretia happy. Hojo = Evil, Vincent = Extremely Tortured Soul. Also the fact that Lucretia is Sephiroth's true mother makes her an extremely tortured character too. Vincent and Lucretia are totally perfect for each other. One last bit: considering you met Lucretia under the secret waterfall, and she was still looking so young, do you think Hojo experimented on her while she was pregnant? Giving her mako and Jenova cells?

-sigh- Oh joy, another one that doesn't look at what canon says. I suppose it's up to me to explain.
Lucrecia broke away from Vincent after becoming overwhelmed with guilt for supposedly killing his father. In reality, Vincent's father died trying to save her from a lab accident, when Chaos broke free. She went to Hojo because he offered her a chance to continue her experiments. By this time, I'd say the guilt was affecting her mind, and the marriage was really only a formality so she could get pregnant without people talking. Either way, she is obviously repentant in Dirge of Cerberus, and there are several hints that she did, and does care for Vincent.
Please, look at the source material before jumping to conclusions.
