Thank you very much for the critique!
About the wings and feathers... well, in the end, I heavily referenced them by a real eagle wings. What bothers me is the position because it is not 100% what I wanted - the eagle was flying (landing) but I am standing, thus I wouldn't need the wings to be so precisely symmetrical. But for the large and round / thin and sharp subject, well, it seems that it really exists in this world that way (though it may not be aesthetic).
As for the rock, I mentioned this before as a reply to the other critique I got: the fact the rock is doodled and not so detailed as everything else is because it's dark and I couldn't see it on my monitor. BUT when I saw it another day on an LCD monitor, I really liked it. Maybe it is just because I like doodled, lively work better than static and heavily detailed art I usually tend to make. And I agree the rock and the rest may not come together all that well. But oh, I liked it :]
And you are right with the words. BUT I didn't want a "scriptive" font. People often use very extraordinary fonts that are very hard to read and I hate them so much that all I wanted was a straight, READABLE font. I knew it might kill the picture X-D I could as well add the words to the comments and leave the picture without it. Maybe that would be the best option. But I suspect the words make a good "advertisement" for my website, being distracting and all ...:]
Anyways, I am not defending myself against your critique or something. I agree with you in some matter and disagree in another. I just like to discuss things. So thank you again for sharing your time with me!

Sure no problem :3 I actually saw your reply to the other person afterward XD Course you have artistic license to this. If you say, "I meant to do that" then who's to say otherwise? Your decisions were thought out and that's enough for me, ya know?

First and foremost I have to say, the color scheme, especially helps this piece to have a very enchanting and spiritual feel to it. The moon, while looking extremely realistic and detailed, adds to the sense of allure and mysticism coupled with the beautiful, surreal starry sky. The added nebula-like, almost outerspace-like, swirls emphasize the feeling. But it does not feel as if we cannot relate...it is not so far out there that we cannot feel a sense of realism to it. Like a beautiful dream that is still within reach. The realism on the wolf's fur and feathers is positively incredible! The fur texture especially looks as if you could touch it! Though I have to say, perhaps as a note, that the longest feathers [the flight? feathers?] seem almost "flat" compared to the high level of detail on other areas of her body. As well as the scribbles upon the rock add a more abstract or surreal look to it compared to the realism in other parts of the image. This is not necessarily a bad thing though, as it adds to the "fantasy" appearance...blending "art" and "real" together. I like the addition of the words, but wonder if perhaps it would be more poetic to remove the word "can". Over all this is a very amazing piece that really is eye-catching and uplifting. You can feel the character's awe in aura well. It leaves you with a sense of intrigue.

This is so beautiful it can't be put into words. I've always wanted to try drawing a winged wolf myself but, i never felt inspired to draw one until now. Sure, my friends say that i can draw wolves pretty good, it's the wings that are hard to draw, and I've never used anything besides a piece of paper with a pencil and Paint on the computer. I have never seen anything so beautiful and realistic since I've joined deviantart.

Amazing!! Do you accept point commissions? how much would a painting like this cost?

akelataka In reply to Kaia-Ulv [2011-01-13 08:26:22 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I do accept points commissions, the price would be equal to real money though (it's 400pts = 5 USD, I think). But I do not accept commissions for this kind of artwork, only for simple pictures. The basic price list can be found on my userpage.
