But what about the character? Sure the art is yours, but the character does not belong to you, am I correct ? What about the character copyright? So anyone can use the picture of her character, as long as they credit the artist ? Or ? am I wrong?

not really. they arent allowed to use the character because it may be copyrighted else where. you may redraw as fanart but the copyright is still there,but so long as they credit the owners of the character itself etc its fine to redraw. i have put this pic onto my newgrounds with the credit going to the respective owner of the character itself so if say someone wanted to redraw they have to credit the owner of the character, but if you want to redraw in the exact same way, or in a way copy the pic. credit should go to both parties.
but also u cant use the character itself unless you had the permission from the creator of the character itself
