I truly admire Sunset for her strength in Rainbow Rocks. It takes quite a lot to withstand almost every single one of your peers holding a grudge against you. In a way, she went for being a bully to being bullied by everyone. How do you reconcile when your past self seems like a stranger? When is ok to stop feeling guilty?
I like that they showed Sunset was finally a true part of the group when she chose to stand up for her friends. In the end, no amount of guilt will redeem you, only new, positive actions will.
I thought about having Celestia in this stained glass, considering how highly Sunset still regards her, but I felt that featuring Princess Celestia's face didn't quite fit. Nor did Principal Celestia's face. Featuring the Princess would imply a strong connection. But Sunset's bond with the Princess is completely battered. And Sunset doesn't seem to have much of a connection with the principal. I featured her cutie mark instead, a distancing symbol rather than a face, to represent some of her regret.
I also thought about featuring Twilight Sparkle, but I thought her crown was enough for the same reasons. It has a dual purpose now; being a symbol of her shame, and a symbol of her friend.

Out of the all villains in MLP, Sunset Shimmer's redemption felt the most...earned.
Her actions weren't forgotten, and even the heroes were (understandably) weary of her. But Sunset accepted the guilt and tried to be a better person in spite of the cold refusals.
And even in later movies, when Sunset gained acceptance, she still showed she had more to learn.

In the end, no amount of guilt will redeem you, only new, positive actions will.You pretty much summed up why I love Sunset on this sentence. She was bullied, humiliated, degraded and shunned yet she still endured. And it wasn't with her fists or showing her superiority but by staying true to herself. By being positive. But what I love more is that through Sunset the film showed that you really cannot sit still and feel sorry for yourself. That you have to stand up take action. And that one cannot wait for a Knight in shining armor to solve all your problems and that you have to do it yourself with your own abilities and if you have trouble with it then don't feel humiliated to ask for help.
That was one aspect of the film that I found to be very deep and moving. In all honesty I believe that Sunset is pretty much the perfect example of a strong female character. I find kind of sad that when someone writes a female character(interestingly when it's written by men) they have the assumption that to be strong they have to either be a Mary Sue or an emo with no sense of humanity and or to be mean and aggressive while trying to shove their accomplishments down someone's throat. Yet FiM showed that one does not need to be aggressive or mean to be strong. That one can be strong by staying true to one's virtues.
Sorry if this got a bit preachy but I really loved this Stained Glass version of Sunset Shimmer.

I saw this and had to have a chuckle (as an aside, this is pretty freaking awesome); here is Sunset with a KH themed depiction, and over in the MLP Time Loops on FimFiction (and FanFiction, and here on DA), when Sunset finally became a looper, her defining go-to skill set is the Keyblade.
