Description "Old longings nomadic leap,
Chafing at custom's chain;
Again from it's brumal sleep
Wakens the ferine strain."
~Jack London

Many of you may recognize this quote, as it was my signature on here for eons xD;
But our Drawing final was to interpret a quote, and this one has such strong imagery for me~
(It helps to know that "brumal" refers to winter, and "ferine" is another version of feral.)
It doubles as both a summary for Call of the Wild (the book starts off with this poem, actually), and a metaphor~
But I'll leave interpretation up to you cB

I probably could have used a stronger image for this, but I had trouble just thinking of one picture- I visualize it as a series of images, picking one was hard 8|

As for media, this was done entirely in marker : D The font in Sharpie (I don't care if it fades, I wasn't killing a nice marker for this project), the rest in Copic. I used about 11 shades of grey 8|
The eyes came out unintentionally small, but it looks better in real life. The font could also have been done neater (it was all freehand, I probably could have used a ruler though. I didn't even get examples of fonts off the comp, it was all from my head.)
And the poor quality photo is because the paper is too big for the scanner. (putting the pieces together in Photoshop would have been a pain, considering it's be at least 6 individual images) It's 13x18 inches, not including the paw.
I'm really pleased with the fur texture though. Even if anatomy in places might be a bit wonky.

That's also the carpet in the computer room.

Wow, this is an amazing picture. We just read "Call of the Wild" in school, but it would have been a lot better if we didn't study things about the gold rush a dogs sled for three weeks before we even read it. This poem really is a summary for the book though, and I love how you captured it. Nice angle, by the way, it's very dramatic.

aww, thank you x3

Yeah, reading books for school almost always sucks, because you can ruin even a GOOD book with loads of research and (ugh) active reading.
The only exception to this is Shakespeare, which research and analysis can actually help you understand the story better c:

It was a fun assignment c:
Our drawing class had a lot of really free assignments that were open to interpretation. They were fun to do.
But now it's Painting class and I don't like painting D:

OMG. THE CARPET. AWESOME. lol... I kid

I really like it, the quote I am not familiar with, but the explanation served the picture well. I'm a fan of the chain and the delicious wolfish grin. <3

Screw Amazon, they overcharge everything. :\

I already saw it at Barnes & Noble around a week ago, I was just surprised that it came out earlier.

Please! I've found more junk at Half-Price books for under $15. (One great example is the Escaflowne OST #1 I found there for only $8, compared to $50 that they're selling it. The last time I checked a few weeks ago).
