Description "I live all over the place," answered Snufkin, and put the coffee pot on the fire. "Today I happen to be here; tomorrow I will be somewhere else. I wander about as I please. When I find a place I like, I pitch my tent and play my harmonica."

This has got to be my first real piece of "fanart"! Waiting for spring (it’s finally here) I got really into sketching Snufkin or Snusmumriken, probably the most memorable character of Tove Jansson’s moomin series. I think anybody who had ever read the books must have felt at least some affection and admiration for that character.

The scanner made the picture look rougher than it is unfortunately…

Thank you so much for the awesome comment! I'm so glad you like this one! The composition was a spur of the moment sort of thing, so I'm glad it works ok here!

I love the Moomins too. The mood of the books is one of a kind right? And Snufkin has always been one of my favourites!

I never had favorite character in these books, but I do have favorite one - "Moominland Midwinter" even though I really hate winetr as a season

Ah I loved Moominland in Midwinter too! Though I think my favourite one was Moominvalley in November. It's a close call though...

I don't know the charachter, but the ambientation is Great!
I like so much the way white trunks and blue work together in the background!

Oh my god! Before I read your description, I thought, "He looks just like the guy from Moomins." Great interpretation of him. Somehow you've kept the Moomin mood and atmosphere while drawing him and the environment in a more realistic manner.

Dzieki! Ostatnio niestety mam znacznie mniej czasu i lekkiego "dola" jezelichodzi o rysunki...Ale staram sie jednak raz na jakis czas cos zrobic.

Odkryłam właśnie dwie rzeczy:
1 - szprechasz w moim narzeczu xD
2 - nie mogę pod Twoją pracą znaleźć swojego komentarza (co brzmi surrealistycznie z racji, że właśnie na niego odpowiadam, ale to ma sens: massage box ułatwia konwersacje).

Szukając swojego komenta przeczytałam inne komentarze. W jednym powyżej/poniżej ktoś zauważył, że łapcie się źle Włóczykijowi zginają. Jak dla mnie zginają się w porządku. Ale miałam wrażenie, że ten efekt był zamierzony - że zagięcia łokci nie miał być naturalne, tylko właśnie takie "gumowe". I to mi się podobało.

Ha, naprawde ciesze sie ze tak uwazasz z tymi zgieciami rak, dziekuje! Ja rysuje glownie na czuja, wiec raczej nie mozna powiedziec ze bylo to w pelni zamierzone. Ale chcialam zeby byl taki nieco nie realny.

I've never read the books but i fondly remember watching the moomin series on television as a kid A bit of a gloomy cartoon... Or at least that's how it seemed in comparison to the flashy-colorfull anime that was really popular then.
Anyways i always loved the Moomins. It was a heartwarming series and i'm sure i would enjoy re-watching it now. I'm sure there are hidden gems in this series my kiddy mind might missed.

I love your Snufkin so much! You make him look EVEN cooler than he already is. Like if that's even possible. But you managed to do so with what seems no effort..
It has to be your style and the way you draw people...You add so much to their personalities while managing to keep the characteristics that make them so iconic in the first place

Gosh, this is one of the nicest comments ever! Thank you! It was such a struggle for me to decide how to draw him in order to keep him feel like the original, yet do so in my style. I'm so glad you say it worked!
I know this gloomy atmosphere you speak of - it was even more pronounced in the books I think, and it's what made the moomins, both the books and the show, so special!

Thank you! I am so glad you like how I portrayed him! The books had such an amazing mood - a mixture of happiness and gloominess, and Snufkin seemed to me to be the epitome of that strange blend, I really wanted to capture such an atmosphere here.

I too is very addicted to draw him and write storys bout him.
He is such an intresting and awesome person i ever camed up too.
