I think Illustrator is faster than Photoshop when drawing/editing shapes.

but wait how is layer managing in illustrator? is it same as photoshop, or different?
(im wondering cuz you obviously required a lot of layer on that piece, lots of layers = damn long time)

It's a little different, like, on Photoshop a layer is a object, on Illustrator a layer is like a folder, it can have objects or groups of objects inside.
I think, you'll need to use it to understand what I'm saying =]
