My guess is as good as anyone else's: people like the imagery. Lone Spartan observing a downed Covenant cruiser is epic, and with every screenshot the Spartan is different. Also, there's a full-size image if you click on the download button 1280 x 800 pixels. If that's still small, then kudos to you for having a massive monitor.
