Description
The ruined masonry of Corfe Castle. Located on the Island of Purbeck, which is a peninsula not an island, the castle was originally built in the 11th century and was the last Royalist stronghold to fall to the Parliamentary forces in the English Civil War. It was slighted by those forces once the siege ended in 1645 and is now in the care of the National Trust.
