Should I feel bad for not like, crying over this? I mean yes this is very very sad and Iβd hate to be in Ziraβs paws and am absolutely infuriated at Scar. However, I am not surprised by any means. I knew Ziraβs happiness just wasnβt meant to be, plus I wasnβt quite as attached to Endesha. He was a nice character and good love interest for Zira donβt get me wrong, we knew so little about him. It wasnβt like when Mohatu died, or any of the other longer/well-known characters. I cried over their deaths (Mohatuβs and Ahadiβs mostly) because we knew them more; they had story and depth. They were characters I got attached to. Endesha we hardly knew. Still. Rest in peace Endesha. :cΒ

I get where you're coming from a little, Endesha was kinda just a plot device to be discarded just to play as another factor into Zira's madness, and he seemed a bit too much of a 'cookie cutter' nice character, the only real action he's taken is try to protect Zira and their unborn cub, we hardly knew him indeed, I didn't hate him, and he seemed sweet, but he was mostly here as Zira's love interest and then get removed to put Zira through further agony, we haven't even seen very much of the Southlanders. XDΒ

My point exactly. I was a bit afraid Iβd get called a cold and unemotional jerk or something for it, considering how intensely people are reacting to his death - not that Iβm judging them for it either; if it makes them sad, it makes them sad. Their emotions are just as valid. - and I do feel sad about his death, I just simply cannot cry or get strongly emotional over a fictional character I hardly knew, and who served little purpose to the storyβs plot (I honestly feel way more heartbroken by Ziraβs reaction to the whole thing, rather than his death itself)

I totally agree.Β Β I felt more pained by Dumaka, Naanda and Ahadi's deaths, after a while, the character's fates just feel more 'inevitable' and you just focus on the implications of their deaths, and it depends on how attached you were to the character to begin with i suppose, something that makes me feel a bit of pain from Endesha's fate is knowing the future of his family, like how Zira will be forced to raise her son alone and how she becomes crazy and Nuka gets himself killed trying to please his mother, making his sacrifice almost in vain, he went out as a hero i gotta admit, Β but... at what cost? Zira will lose EVERYTHING once this is all over, that's the thing that makes me sad. She doesn't get to have a happy ending and will only have scars, reminders of her fucked up past, and it won't excuse her potentially murderous actions in the future that could result in her exile, but, i feel really bad for her character. She's broken and trying to hold onto a sinking ship. I'm at least hoping at some point, she gets the opportunity to kill the lion that killed her mother. Like Scar said, life's not fair. And it's been especially cruel to Zira.Β Β Β

Was Nala a cub then? The closest thing I remember to that in this comic are either Zira slapping Nala when she was a cub, or Nala promising to protect her brother Mheetu from anyone who would try to hurt him, while Zira looked on angrily.

So, as you last saw, Nala attempted to get Zira to talk to Scar about his awful decision to make the lionesses hunt for the hyenas. Zira refused to help, so Nala pointed out how horribly scar treats her, and Zira slapped Nala. Nala called her out on it and ran off.
So from there, Uru decides to talk to Scar, telling him that the hyenas and Zira are out of control, and things need to change. Of course, Scar accuses her of disrespecting him, and complains that she insists on still calling him Taka. She decides to tell him the story of why Viccha was banished, and how she tried to hold Uru hostage. Scar appears to understand for a moment, but then proceeds to to hold to his decisions, insisting that while Viccha was horrible, she is dead, and he is in charge now, therefore no matter of concern. And of course, he's angry that she even dared to question him, as he considers it disrespect. Uru insists that, as king, he needs to make better decisions, or he'll lose everything. Scar is outraged, and screams in her face that he is the king, not Mufasa or Ahadi or Mohatu, and that he will not tolerate anything he considers disobedience, not even from his own mother. He adds "Do I make myself clear?" Uru realizes, with heartbreak, that there is no more reasoning with this lion who was once her son. Scar demands she go into the den and leave him alone, and she replies "Yes, Scar." Scar realizes what he has just done to his mother and sulks outside the rest of the night. Cue a time jump (Chapter 2) and Nala and the other cubs are growing up into adolescents. They've formed a system where they sneak food in from the Southlands Pride (to flash back a bit, back in mufasa's reign, the cubs asked Zira to take them to the Southlands to play with their friend Malka. Zira had a crush on the teenaged prince endesha, but scar forbade her from ever going again due to his plans to cut ties with all other prides when he became king,) The others question the safety of sneaking food around behind Scar's back, (especially because scar will want them to hunt soon), but Nala reminds them that they have no choice if they want to prevent themselves, and their mom's, from starving.
The lionesses also debate the safety of their kids, agreeing that the smuggling should stop once their kids start hunting. They complain about how their kids will still be so young while hunting, and how unhappy the herds will be. Sarafina, however, thinks she may be able to get through to Scar through romance, since he loved her once. The other lionesses argue against the idea, but Sarafina is determined to try, for the sake of Nala and the others.Β
Sarafina is able to work her way into Scar's favor, using the excuse of "I was too young and scared to acknowledge my feelings before, but I'm not scared now." Nala and Zira are both furious over the incident. Nala argues about having Scar as a step father, and Zira gently explains why she's doing this, adding that if things get worse, Nala is to run away and find help. Nala asks if Sarafina really thinks Scar would hurt them, and Sarafina answers "Yes". ( more in the next reply)
