So it finally happened. I got to see the Legend of Korra trailer and model sheets at the Legend of Korra panel in San Diego. Comic Con was amazing, and nothing topped the Korra panel. Just seeing the art, revived my need to work on more characters.Above is a work in progress of Mako (Yes, he is named after the voice actor of Uncle Iroh who died during the production of Season 3). Mako is one of two brothers that will be the new avatar, Korra's, companions. Mako is the fire bender, and his brother Bolin is the earth bender. Yes, that's right. Families can now have children of various bending traditions.
Anyhu, I love me my fire benders, and Mako was definitely made for all the female fans of Zuko
I have no idea what his personality will be like. Bryan stated he will not be as 'emo' as Zuko. Personally I'd like to hope he is the more confident/smarmy type, but we shall see. I'm not very happy with this piece, but I will finish it.

I know this is a long shot and pretty sue-ish in terms of thinking. Maybe its just my inner fangirl, but most firebenders have either brown or amber eyes, right?
Only the Royal family have Golden-coloured eyes.
I'm thinking he may be a descendant of Zuko, or even Azula. Maybe Azula recovered enough - or escaped, found someone in secret. Had a Firebending child and tried to raise that child up as an instrament of revenge. It goes south when said child leaves and hides in the earth kingdom, there they meet their significant Earth-bending other and produce at least two sons, Mako and Bolin.
Its just a stupid theory. That I literally just made up for the sake of this comment.

I prefer to think of them as biological brothers, one inheritted traits from prodominantly from the father and the other from the mother.
Bolin got his skill and appearance from his father and Mako his mother in my headcanon.

Photoshop. Normally I use Painter, but felt i needed the practice cracking at a more celled look.

I use Photoshop too but I do the lineout on paper D: I should probably use the pen tool cause people say it'll look better but it's hard to retrace xD

i dont use the pen tool in photoshop, just used a small brush and drew it then on a top layer "inked" it. But to each there own

This is why I need to go to Comic Con. I can't wait for the new series! I heard about it a while ago, and ever since, I've been really wanting to see it. >u< Mako looks like a really cool character, too.
