Toph rocks, babie! :'D

Toph is my favourite female character in ATLA! I've wanted to dedicate an entire pic to her for a very long time!
A stock photo gave me inspiration for the pose and the colours - though the initial conception for the setting was different - and yeah, I tried some new stuff such as a different pov and a badass background

However, this is one of those drawings... You start with the best intentions and then, while you're working, you realise that some things are too difficult for you to render without a specific preparation and you eventually start to thin the strokes of your brushes, the amount of hours you dedicate every day to painting, your enthusiasm... It took me forever only to paint Toph's shadows on her body. At first this was meant to be a semi-realistic painting practice, but I eventually realised that I wasn't really able to do that and I added some lineart hoping to give her more tridimensionality. I played a bit with SAI brushes, just to test them, and they work good! Especially if you want to easily blend colours together.
So yeah, after spending hours and hours stroking, blending and cursing every single element of hers (reaaaaally slowly) I added the background! I used a photo as reference, but every single thing - from the smallest rock to the sky - was made by myself... hard hard work! xD But, surprisingly, painting the rocks took less amount of time compared with the time I spent on Toph herself °___° Maybe because rocks are more geometrical. Anyway, once I added the background the inspiration came back again and I pushed myself to finish everything as soon as I could! So there you are

I know there are anatomical mistakes, the lights are a bit strange and so is the general colour balance, but I wouldn't mind receiving some constructive critiques on this piece Sometimes I really need someone who tells me what part of my drawing process I have to work on, where I did wrong and such. So don't be ashamed to leave me some juicy critiques, if you'd like to!
