The preview looks kinda... squishy :-/WATERBENDING ATTACK!! *O*
You had to expect some Avatar fanart from me, since I finally finished watching the series! ...And I loved it!
I've been studying the "Avatar" style, lately, and Katara's is the first sketch which came out decently xD So I decided to use the doodle to make a bigger and more accurate pic and... here it is! Katara is not my favourite character (I believe it's Toph, or Aang) but I still like her a lot! ^^ How can you not love every single character of this cartoon? *______*
Hope it isn't too dark D: I experimented a little with colours and a higher contrast, hope I didn't mess up! The water gave me some problems, instead - I though it would've been much more EASIER to draw and colour, that bastard
I have to work more on anatomy, A LOT more. T-T

Wow, this is amazingly well done! I love the swirling water and the look of determination on her face. It makes the portrait look very authentic.
I'm not sure why you said you needed a lot more work on anatomy. What exactly is wrong with her anatomy here? Everything seems properly proportioned. Perhaps her bottoms are a little low on her hips, as they seem as they'd fall off if she were moving around like that (since they're low enough to reveal the seam between leg and pelvis) but that's the only thing I can think of that caught my eye, and that's not even really an anatomy problem. It's possible that I'm just crazy and it's not a problem at all.
I like it a lot.

I think that what bothers me the most are her hips and the upper part of her body: it just seems... weird! Maybe the bust is too long and the hips too low, just like you noticed. But I've always had this kind of problem with drawing bodies, so I guess I just have to practice until everything turns out fine

Ah, I meant that the bottom part of her outfit was perhaps too low on the hips (as if it is low enough to fall off if she were walking around), not the anatomy of the hip itself. The bust doesn't seem too "long," if perhaps a bit more substantial for somebody of her age. She always seemed to have a small bust in the show, you know? Every drawing is a learning experience though--if you don't make mistakes, you don't learn better for next time. Your drawing has fewer mistakes than most people's, besides, so it's a good thing.

I only watched Avatar for the first time myself about a year ago (and then I HAD to go see Teh Movie
I love everything about this picture, and apart from Katara's left hand looking a little wonky, I'd say your grasp of anatomy is actually pretty cool.
And don't listen to all the naysayers, whether you like "The Last Airbender" film is a very personal matter. I know some long-time Avatards who love it, and others dislike or even hate it, it seems to be quite opinion-polarising; personally, I loved it (it had pacing issues, but squishing 20eps/8hrs of storytelling into under 2hrs will do that to a plot, it's not M Night Shabbadabbadoo's fault). At least go rent it, then if you don't like it you've only paid a couple of bucks rental fee. If you love it, you can always buy it later (I'm buying it for sure). ^__^

I think I'll rent the DVD when it'll come out, because now that I finished to watch the original series I'm very curious to see what the director created with it! Then I'll finally have my own opinion about it

Ahah, le mani... bestiacce! xD Ultimamente ho scoperto quanto utili possano essere le costruzioni di partenza: basta disegnare direttamente una testa o un piede, prima un abbozzo generale e POI i dettagli! Speriamo che sia un metodo che anche in futuro darΓ i suoi frutti
