I usually have zero respect for anti-caps because of how violent they tend to be towards SeaWorld, but I can highly respect you and I love your art. I saw a lot of disgusting things come out of anti-cap's when Tilikum passed, including a very vulgar "Too bad they can't ride that tilikum dick anymore" like really? We're all trying to mourn, stop using his death to boost your own agenda. But you at least know his caregivers loved him. Even if you don't agree with their ways, I can respect that you aren't one of the anti-caps who seem to think being rude and offensive is the way to spread orca awareness.Β

I know your intent with this message was only positive and nice, and I'm really glad that you like my art but some of the content in this comment bothers me. I really want to encourage you to have some more elasticity in your expectations of people in the captivity discussion. Most people (on both sides) really don't know what they're talking about, only casually engage in discussions and act rude or hostile when challenged. It's easier to notice when you observe it in people who challenge you or who you disagree with, but having talked to a lot of people in the debate on either side and in between, most who bother to actually talk aren't so bad. Interactions are usually much more pleasant for everyone when you try not to let previous interactions with other people cloud your mind... I know I was bad for that when I was like 15-16 and it only made me read things that in hindsight weren't hostile or supposed to be negative, with hostility and negativity, assuming the other person was always attacking or trying to belittle my argument rather than challenge the way I think. When you expect people to behave a certain way, your brain only looks for evidence to support what you already think, and it's really not going to help anyone think critically, I find.Β
And yeah, I definitely think that (most) trainers love the animals. They get little to no say in most of the overall program and problems that seaworld has historically had, and it's higher-ups who should usually be blamed for major issues.Β

Lovely painting, I love the pinkish highlights.
It's so sad that he passed.

Beautiful. He was such a great whale and though I never got the chance to meet him, thanks to the big man, I came to love and respect all loving things.
