Description Okay, we are now a few days away from the end of the month of love and friendship, I will draw the last couples that I had time to draw to end this romantic month and I decided to draw this couple that has become one of my favorite animated couples and whose movie since I saw it and although I couldn't see it when it was released in theaters, it caught my attention because of the animation and when I finally saw the film, the story and the songs were generally to my liking and it reminded me a lot of the story of Beauty and the Beast and I found the love story very tender and although I know that this movie was a failure at the box office, I actually liked it a lot and Bog King and Marianne became one of my favorite couples and I decided to include them in my drawing gallery. This movie I'm talking about is called: “Strange Magic”, directed by Gary Rydstrom, produced by George Lucas and Mark S. Miller, produced by Lucasfilm Animation and Touchstone Pictures, distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, based on William Shakespeare's play “A Midsummer's Night Dream” and released in 2015.
The movie is about a magical kingdom being divided between the Fairy Kingdom and the Dark Forest. When fairy princess Marianne (Evan Rachel Wood), a young woman full of hopes and dreams and in love with love, sees her fiancé, Roland (Sam Palladio), who was only interested in her for the crown and because he wanted an army, kissing another fairy on their wedding day, she vows never to fall in love again and trains by becoming a skilled sword fighter and becoming more of a tomboy. Meanwhile, in the Dark Forest, Bog King (Alan Cumming) has the same opinion about love and forbids all his subjects to use a love potion, despite the protests of his loving mother Griselda (Maya Rudolph), who wishes to find for his son a new girlfriend and tries to convince him to fall in love again.
Marianne's sister, Dawn (Meredith Anne Bull), and her elf best friend, Sunny (Elijah Kelley) who has a crush on Dawn, are nearly eaten by a giant lizard before Marianne rescues them. After crossing the border and entering the Dark Forest, Sunny finds a primrose petal and hides it. At the Spring Ball, Roland tries to win back Marianne, who angrily chases him away even though her father the king (Alfred Molina) tries to convince Marianne to forgive him. Roland consults his warriors, who jokingly tell him to get the love potion to woo Marianne. Roland then encounters Sunny, who has an unrequited love for Dawn, and convinces Sunny to venture into the Dark Forest to get the love potion, which they would both use on their respective fairies. Sunny returns and finds the hidden primrose petal and, with the guidance of an imp, travels to Bog King's lair, where he was holding the Sugar Plum Fairy prisoner. Sunny finds the Sugar Plum Fairy, who agrees to make the love potion if Sunny promises to free her. Sugar Plum's Fairy escape awakens the Bog King, who recaptures her while Sunny and the imp escape from him. Sunny returns to the dance and tries to hit Dawn with the love potion, which affects the person so that they fall in love with the first person they see. Bog King interrupts the celebrations and captures Dawn just as the love potion is sprayed on her and the imp steals it to spread throughout the forest. Bog King orders the fairies to deliver the potion to him before moonset or he will harm Dawn. Defying her father's order, Marianne flies after her sister to rescue her while the king grants Roland a small army to march to the Bog King's castle on foot.
Dawn falls in love at first sight with Bog King due to the love potion, and Bog King imprisons her for her own sanity by locking her in the dungeon along with other creatures who have been affected by the love potion. Marianne arrives and fights the Bog King in a sword duel to make him release her sister and after the fight, Marianne sees that her sister has fallen in love at first sight with the Bog King. When she realizes the seriousness of the situation, the two begin to find common interests and consult Sugar Plum Fairy to help them find an antidote, she tells them how Bog King previously used the love potion on a girl who he liked but when she saw him, she screamed in terror breaking Bog King's heart and for this reason, he banned the love potion and explains to them that true love will nullify the effects of the potion and this worries Marianne, since Dawn has never been in love with a boy and while they think about what to do, a mutual attraction begins to develop between Marianne and Bog, but only Griselda sees it and while both plan what to do, Bog King flies with Marianne to show her the beauty of the Dark Forest.
Sunny retrieves the imp potion and gives it to Roland as they advance towards the castle. Bog King sees this and suspects that Marianne had set him up, breaking his heart again when he leaves her stranded in a spider web. She escapes and joins the battle taking place at the castle. Sunny frees the Sugar Plum Fairy, Dawn, and the forest creatures and during the escape, Bog King holds the mouth of his lair open long enough for everyone to escape, forcing Marianne and Dawn to escape before the lair collapses. He survives, much to Marianne's relief, and Sunny reveals her true feelings to Dawn and they kiss, revealing that Dawn had always been in love with Sunny. Having obtained the potion, Roland sprays Marianne with it to everyone's surprise and although it seems to have worked, Marianne pretends to be in love with Roland and knocks him unconscious and is sprayed with the love potion; the potion had no effect on her because she really loves Bog and Sugar Plum Fairy points out that the love potion has no effect on people who are already in love with someone else. Bog King and Marianne finally admit what they feel for each other because the other fairies and creatures encourage them to reveal their feelings and they finally kiss as a sign of their love.
The truth is that this movie seems very tender to me and above all, the songs are well-known and although the covers are great; the original songs are better, but they make me enjoy the movie even more and although at times the animation is not so attractive, especially in the characters, well, some are not so attractive, but seeing the development of the relationship between Marianne and Bog King is the most touching thing and especially the scene that they both have together while they fly through the Dark Forest while singing “Strange Magic” and falling in love ( is one of my favorite scenes in the entire movie) and also when they both fight with swords and during the fight they flirt and Marianne proves to be a great fighter and has mastery with the sword and being a great opponent for Bog King while they both sing “Straight On For You” and although it seems to me like a romance like that of Beauty and the Beast, this story serves to teach us that we all deserve to find someone to fall in love with and who loves us equally, being a reciprocated love and above all, seeing at the end the kiss between Marianne and Bog King has been the most beautiful animated kisses I have seen and although the film has not been so memorable and underrated, the truth is, I liked it and I could see it more times without getting bored to sing the songs and see the love relationship between both protagonists and how both open themselves with the person they like to accept fall in love again with the person of their choice and I truly recommend watching this movie, and you can find it on Disney+ platform so you can enjoy it like I did. 🧚🏻‍♀️🧚🏻🧚🏻‍♂️🦋💐🌷🌹🪻🪷🌺🌸🌼🌻☀️🌕⭐️🌟✨🎑🏞️🌅🌄🌠🔮⚗️🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
