I remember that when I saw the trailer for this movie, I felt a lot of emotion since I got to play video games with my cousin of this franchise and to awaken my nostalgia, I decided to see this movie in theaters in its opening week and the truth is, I spent a while enjoying the movie, the animation, the music and the characters and I felt like a little girl with this movie, that I decided I should draw a drawing to include it in my gallery. Okay, so the movie I'm going to talk about is called: “Super Mario Bros: The Movie”, based on Nintendo's Mario video game franchise, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination studios, released in 2023. The plot of the film revolves around Mario and Luigi, two Italian-American brothers living in Brooklyn, whose business is to be plumbers, but their job is not as successful as they would like and their family, especially their father, constantly doubts them, until one day, after seeing a big water leak in the city on the news, Mario and Luigi decide to go fix it, but end up being sucked into a warp pipe, entering a strange world and ending up being separated from each other. Mario arrives in the Mushroom Kingdom, determined to find his brother, he meets one of the residents named Toad, a mushroom man, who takes him to meet Princess Peach for help and she, in turn, helps Mario train so he can fight against Bowser, while Luigi ends up falling into the Dark Lands, where he is captured by the King of the Koopas, Bowser, who is furious when he finds out that Princess Peach is accompanied by Mario, since he is in love with her and wishes to marry her and if she does not accepts, he will destroy the Mushroom Kingdom using the power of the super star, so for this reason, he wants to destroy Mario and takes Luigi prisoner and in turn, Mario along with Toad and Princess Peach ask for help from King Cranky Kong, ruler of the Jungle Kingdom and he tells them that he will help them, but only if they defeat his son Donkey Kong, will he be able to make an army to face Bowser to save Luigi and as well as save the world of Princess Peach and Mario’s world too.
I find the movie to be most entertaining and enjoyable, as it has an amazingly good quality incanimation, a fun story from start to finish for both kids and adults to enjoy, an unbeatable voice cast, funny jokes and suitable for all audiences, a soundtrack with the best songs like "I need a hero", "Take on me" and even the song that Bowser sings “Peaches” is the most entertaining and funny song from the movie and despite being the villain, you just can't hate Bowser because he's funny and at the same time entertaining. In general, most of the characters are nice with a defined personality and something that I really liked was the relationship between Mario and Luigi, since both are very close to each other and as the main objective of Mario was looking out for the safety and well-being of his brother and that moves me, because the relationship between siblings is the most important thing, apart from the relationship with parents and also seeing the relationship between Mario and Princess Peach is tender, and although the two like each other, I don't see that the romance between the two has blossomed and Mario's relationship with Toad and Donkey Kong is great as well, since he has things in common with the latter since they both have a difficult relationship with their parents and with the former, it was because he became his first friend in that world. I definitely recommend watching this movie because there are also many references to the original video game, the characters are nice and I give it a 9.5 for the final rating and I think I would want to watch it again to have a good time laughing.
