a pulled a ridiculously long shift working on commissions and such, and after about 30 hours I realized that I was too tired to sleep so I treated myself to just doing a sketch for meIve done this pose so many times that its just a very easy one for me, and really, the best thing about sketching for yourself is having the option of deciding when you don't feel like working on it anymore.
so, after about 3 hours messing around with this I decided I was loosing interest, but I still think its a pretty cool sketch so... there ya go.

When you start with a sketch do you use black at 50%?

no, not really. I usually do sketches on paper... white paper
For a study in black and white its a bit easier to start somewhere in the middle of your values. Same for color pieces, although, different techniques are required for different materials.

btw i took your gorgeous piece then added a layer of orangy red over it and put it on 2 diff combo layers making it look like mary jane....but don't worry it's for my eyes only!

I guess its kind of obvious. Its very common for marginally talented, perpetually broke losers in their mid 20's to date chicks like this. We have the best relationship too, man. She loves modeling for me for three hours before the crack of dawn on a Tuesday. She doesn't even mind that I live in a shitty apt and I don't own a bed.
*sigh*** if only.
On the upside, not dating this sexy chick that I just made up really frees me up to enjoy the finer things in life, like staying up all night playing internet poker and drinking cheap beer. Not to mention all the free time I have to post long self deprecating comments on deviantart.
