well light enough that you could see easily. In terms of brightness I would say it would be the equivalent of 20 minutes after sunset on a clear day.

how did you use a 30 sec exposure without it being washed out/too bright? I've tried this with a river near my house and it's always too short of a shutter speed to get the look I want, because it's too bright out.
