Description On August 9th, my beloved little Yennefer passed away at roughly 9.45 PM CET. I hope she found her peace after a ten minute death struggle that I could only watch and where the only thing I could do for her was holding her, gently petting her and telling her that she would be okay.

She lived to be three or maybe even four years old, we never found out. I only got to keep her for roughly two years, I saved her from a shelter and never regretted adopting her and her siblings. She was such a lovely rat, a little diva, a lady and she always knew what she wanted. And she never hesitated to show me what she wanted or what she hated (clipping claws or simply being held being the latter). Yennefer loved cuddling. Just sitting on my shoulder or almost curling around my neck. A couple of weeks ago, she became especially cuddly and I knew it was her way of telling me that her time was running short. She was showing all symptoms of a fullblown mycoplasmosis. She could barely breathe. She also had developed a big tumour at her left hind leg and was slowly developing paralysis of both hind legs. The only thing I could do for her was cuddling her, making her life as easy and as pleasant as possible.

And being there for her until her very last breath. It was horrible, holding her while life slowly left her, but I did not have the heart to lay her on her favourite towel to wait until her death. I held her and we buried her in a very pleasant spot in our garden. May you rest in peace, beautiful black-eyed Yennefer. You are the most beautiful rat I have ever seen and I will never forget you.
