Hi! I use maya to model my basic geometry and to create my cameras, then I export everything to nuke! i find that program really easy to use, I mean the program is huge but to make projections an compositing it is really useful!

Yeah I guess it's the best way to have good results, if only make planes in nuke... it's make more fake. but works enough for far matte.

yes, absolutely, it depends in what does the painting requires, sometimes few cards are enough!

You should create a lensfare sometimes when you move, like on your church cam. who disapearead behind object. or make move in some of vibrance lighting in back, for the montain I think. 
But i'm not even that strong to make yours, so if you said to go f**myself. I could agree xD
