Description So...started as a 1.5 hour speed painting (the cityscape) and developed into a 5-6 hour sci-fi fantasy showdown.

Played around a lot with the foreground and mid ground, mid ground was originally the foreground with more buildings but I'd lost the sense of a bridge or causeway that was elevated and it didn't look right perspective-wise, so i hacked out the closer side and showed the sight of some buildings poking through underneath. That took a good couple of hours. Then there was the big empty space on the left of the canvas to fill so I expanded the canvas and enter soldier No.2

I may go back to this and play around with some textures on Soldier No.2 and any mistakes I see in the meantime.

Photoshop, wacom Bamboo
Mostly my own custom brushes and a few from [link]

well it did start as a sort of extended speed painting then just got out of control in a good way i think.
I wouldn't say the buildings are hard, just very time consuming in order to get everything to them. I'm sure there are faults and bits I've missed.

There were moments of impatience, but then I just took a little moment said to myself, 'it's gotta be done so just do it' and the time flew by and ka-blam! there it was. I'm happy with it as it is even though I know so much more could be done to it, but as a learning piece I'm happy

The perspective and mood came out great! Since I see advanced critique is encouraged I have to say my only issue about this is the shadowing on the buildings in the middle. It seems the monster is generating it's own light and the shadows on the further buildings don't angle away from him. Just a thought. I still think it looks awesome
