Playing around with my leather sketch pad. This Gurk Pirate has some Gryphon Ranger gear she looted.I think I need to make the Gurks more mismatched with their gear. Some wearing Commonwealth stuff some wearing Gryphon armor. Some may even have some Grakon armor.

Anyways, yeah, this kind of look for the Gurks would be very suitable I think. Quite logical, being pirates, and it would add an interesting element to bring this more rugged, mismatched pirate-like look into the mix of the sci-fi setting.

It's really cool. The cover is leather so it looks really neat sitting on the table.

You know that would be amazing! Β And it would really make a lot of sense since they are pirates. Β they would naturally be picking up stuff from the ships they looted and using the best of what they find no matter where it was from. Β I think that kind of detail would add a lot to both the characters and the species. Β
And using pencil to color in a sketchbook is brilliant! Β I've been using my markers, my favorite way to color, but it always bleeds through the back. Β Which means I can use the other side of the page. Β But this is good. Β I am going back to color some things now. Β

It really would. Gurks are kind of wild and out for themselves and this style of outfits for them will really demonstrate that. 
Aw thanks! It's a lot of fun. Another fun thing to do is after you get a thick layer of color pencil down you could watercolor over it without it bleeding through to the other page.Β I need to do more traditional drawings.

Thanks! It actually is. A lot of the Gurks have war paint that they use. It permanently stains their fur so in a way it's like a tattoo.

I remember one of my dystopian stories had some Marines who deserted. Another person remarked that "you guys must have killed quite a few Marines" because it was so common to take uniforms. He was then corrected by a character telling him, "those are Marines."Β
