Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!This is a special image for Mother's day, featuring Arian and her mother, the Empress of the Alorian Empire. Arian is the youngest of three daughters, and while this means her royal status is low, she always has a special place in her mother's heart (despite her selfish and bratty behaviour). I tried something a little different on this painting (mostly because I ran out of time), and did a greyscale rendering of the scene, focusing on light and dark contrasts. I am pleased with how it turned out, but I think I will also try a fill colour version in the near future! The Empress's thrown is a giant gold sculpture designed with a mermaid motif, hinting at Alorian mythology and royal symbolism. High above the grand hall is a star map of all the systems under Alorian control.

Have been kicking around a Senya story still. But I have need of more input, er, information. Does the Empress of the Alorian Empire have just one Prince Consort to father all three daughters, or are they from separate sources? And does the Empress, being the empress, get to do things on the side and in private for her own enjoyment? Such as, have extramarital affairs, and does she engage in drug and alcohol usage as well?

Interesting questions indeed! I have not thought too much about the Empress, but I will reveal some more in the comic later.
You could make up a new royal or aristocratic character, then there would be no limitations! Maybe a bad-girl who Arian is not allowed to visit (because she is such a bad influence)!

I love it! It's SO moody and atmospheric and looks like it's straight out of a movie and basically something I've wanted to know for some time - what Arian's mom looks like! : 3
And not only that, but they look to get along nicely, no hint of sideways vibes - which is nice. Too many people go for the "Oh, they're perceived as bad, so they are bad in every respect of their lives and with everyone." Doesnt seem to be the case here! Not every brat is a sociopath, I guess! ; D

They both share a lust for power and domination, and looking down upon the peoples of the galaxy! So, they have plenty to bond over.
The mom would be harder on her two eldest daughters (who would inherit high and important stations), but Arian she is free to spoil... and delight as she abuses her underlings!

Apparently bawdy songs are being composed in ale houses, highly disrespectful graffiti is appearing on the walls of public buildings, and you are now the laughing stock of the entire Empire... THAT other matter!"

Nonetheless, the Empress may want to teach her errant daughter a lesson and I doubt that Arian will get much in the way of support from her elder sisters. Royal siblings can be quite competitive and delight in each other's misfortune.
