You're an artist AND a writer? That's pretty awesome. The picture is great too, I love the color scheme, how it goes from blue on the left to pinkish red on the right. The anatomy is spot on too!

Love a picture with a story. The small plants poking their way is an intriguing detail, but alas, what does that thing do, curling around his feet?

really like the almost sweetly acid colour palette. makes me think of dangerous kool aid.
love the details on the structure, as well as how you drew his jacket.

Very nice, I like all the detail, in everything. Great use of color throughout the whole piece. However, I think your balance may be off just a little, the floor looks slanted, unless of course this is intended then never mind. Also, is that smoke, which is fantastic, grabbing him or coming from him? If it's grabbing him, you may be able to add a little more action to this piece if you had the guy pulling to get away... again, if that's not the case never mind.

Thanks! The "smoke" is a swarm of bioluminescent nanomachines, and I wanted to make him look in control of the situation, so no grabbing haha. I also used a fish eye camera for the perspective lines grid in the original 3D model, so the slant your seeing is probably from that.

Can you give us a little synopsis of the story behind it?

Here's a brief introduction to the first novel in the series:
The Keep is Earth's last underground city, a place on the brink of ruin, its tunnels twisting and branching deep into the earth's crust. The cities lower inhabitants struggling to exist in a world overrun by biological nanomachines, invading and shaping every element of life. Above the surface, animals called the Goulu infest the few inhabitable areas; they are creatures who have evolved from nanomachines over the eons in the rubble of Earth. On one fateful day, the Keep is finally overwhelmed under the attack of the Goulu, and Arden a small boy with a peculiar talent will begin his journey to survive on Earth.

Kinda reminds me of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann meets the Matrix meets H. G. Wells' The Time Machine. Ever seen Gurren Lagann? If not, I highly recommend it.
