I would assume it's shot using the Canon MT-24EX flash system at f/8+ and focus stacked to achieve the phenomenal clarity. There is no way to you get the level of detail and focus shooting one shot with any given aperture.

The details, the texture on his face & body it
almost looks like leather. The depth of field
is just perfect, enough of the Beetle is in
focus and the fact I can full view it and
see it bigger, thank you for that, it's rarely
seen here on dA with macro works!
