I just figure dwarven dames where furs or scarfs around their neck and since most of them fight, just like the men do, well. You don't really see many woman fighters so it's just easier to cross dress. I bet dwarven women in the LotR series have really long... He'll they could probably make fake beards out of that too, but eh..
You have to have a lot of testosterone todo that.. and build thick muscles.. But eh..

heh. i was just making a joke. if you ever saw LOTR: Two Towers, there's a part where gimli is talking to eowyn about dwarven women. he says that most people mistake them for dwarven men, and aragorn (who is behind gimli, where gimli can't see him) mouths out "it's the beards" that the dwarven women have that makes them look like them men.....
