Description My first non-Metroid fan art. This is the Avatar from C&C3 and Kane's Wrath.
This terryfying mech is one of the Brotherhood of Nod's most powerful units. I think C&C3 and Kane's Wrath are really cool and addictive games, although I didn't appreciate the fact that they didn't name it Tiberian Twilight or something like that (since the previous games are Tiberian Dawn and Sun). I really like how all the unit types in the game have their own personality, for example a biker talks really fast and always seems to be in a hurry but the driver of a Mammoth tank talks really slowly and sounds really proud and stuff. The Avatar is like this really creepy bully-type thing. You can even sacrifice your own units to upgrade him.

Command & Conquer and Avatar are Β© Electronic Arts.

Funny, your name suggested that your fav unit could be the Specter artillery.

I like most of the Nod units in the game, but I think Redeemer could've been made more evil looking, though.

Anyway, thanks a bunch!

Yeah KW pwns. I really admire how they managed to create a game that focuses on strategy and resource-gathering, but still rewards for micro-management skills. And the matches aren't too long (like Tiberian Sun) or too slow-tempo (like Red Alert 3).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-06-27 10:09:23 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I really love games that have an epic story. And I think so, matches aren't too long or too slow-tempo. We can rush, fast-tech, and use tricky plans. While we can't use any tricky plans and wouldn't be able to change the match's situation on StarCraft II. (Well I like SCII but KW still pwns )

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-06-27 13:13:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, after KW EA just messed up by trying to be innovative. People don't want unit caps. C&C fans demand base-building, base-crawling, harvesting etc. And the effects... you can really feel the blast when an attack bike hits something with a missile in C&C3, but in C&C4 the effects are just smoothed-out balls and beams of light... Some of C&C4's units are cool, though, and I wished they would've included in a more traditional C&C game.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-02 10:50:57 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. It's not like RTS without base-building, it's more like CoH or something like that. That really made C&C4 not C&C. EA Los Angeles is a quite wierd lately. But another thing, I still support EA, I don't understand why most people just say "EA suck", the only EA that's become bad lately is only EA LA, see MoH, the campaign in made by EA LA, it's terrible, lol. But the online made by DICE (another EA studio) is awesome. I hope EA LA will get better though, to make another C&C game as legend as KW again.

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-04 11:51:00 +0000 UTC]

I think it's just easier to hate large corporations. You can see this in other industries as well.
I don't care much for EA myself, since recently I've been more into console gaming (Wii, DS, etc.) and it isn't EA's strongest fields IMO. And EA has bought and broken up a lot of fans' favorite studios, like Westwood, so I can see why people could think negatively of the company.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to see them announce a new C&C.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-06 09:47:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, agree with that. But EA LA had been doing good since Generals to KW. They just became bad not long ago, what would Westwood be or do, would they be good or bad, they might make C&C3 not as good as EA did, no one knows. But anyway, I hate EA LA atm, lol.

I wonder what kind of next C&C would be, also hope they get better...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-06 13:18:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I really don't know what would have been Westwood's quality today, just saying it's probably one of the factors that EA receives so much criticism. Another example of a high-quality game developer is/was Rare that really dominated the 1990s, but after their last Nintendo-platform title, they've only come up with disappointments...

On the next C&C, I'm really hoping to see something more traditional with emphasis on resources and speed. The fact that you got to choose how much harvesters to build per tibfield (unlike Red Alert 3), the possibility of expanding and building multiple bases with outposts, small rewards for micro management (like commandos etc.) and no unit caps made C&C3 epic. I don't really care about whether I'm commanding colorful soviet tanks or tripods, just as long as the gameplay is right and the game's universe is coherent (don't expect to see dolphins fighting scrin etc.).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-13 08:36:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I hope EA LA got frustrated of SC2 and try hard to fight with them, lol. I really expect it to be as good and as famous as SC2. I want it to have kinda more plans and tecnics to use, unlike SC2. And yes, tiberium field is the best. Wrong numbers of harvesters = lose. I really like that, I think RA3 is good, but the only thing is that there are no gold fields. It might be as good as C&C3 if they do gold fields, didn't it?Another thing I'd like to see is training groups of infantries like in C&C3, not training one soldier. I really like the idea of training groups, it really makes C&C3 epic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-14 12:04:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, group training is cool and makes sense, especially with low tech inf. RA3 was way too much micro management (in the expense of strategy) and kinda slow-tempo. Would've wanted to see resource fields instead of mining facilities. Loved the music, though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-15 10:32:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Klepacki is cool. Well what I think is that EA LA tried to make RA3 alike SC, slow-tempo and micro management. I like the idea how every unit has a special ability (but it's kinda too much...).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-15 13:18:54 +0000 UTC]

...especially when some abilities rarely get used. I'd rather have the Shogun Battleship to be always able to ram nearby units than have to click here and there all the time. But some appreciate microing more than me, and I can understand that. It's just that RA (and C&C) were, for me at least, more strategy- than tactic-focused games and I enjoyed large battles between clusters of tanks and infantry.

On a side note, have you ever played Advance Wars games?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-15 14:39:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, strategy, and epic, it feels like we are a commander or a general more 'cause we control large groups of units, unlike SC2 that has limit of units and needs micro skills more than intelligence & plans. (dunno why i always mention SC2, lol)

No, what is it and why?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-16 08:03:43 +0000 UTC]

Just a completely different take on strategy, suited for Nintendo's portable devices. Highly addicting. Lots of things I'd despise in PC strategy games (turn-based, usually limited resources etc.), but are just brilliant on a hand-held. If you ever buy a DS, you should check it out.

They spinned off 3rd-person action game versions of Advance Wars for home consoles (Gamecube and Wii) called Battalion Wars, but they sucked imo.

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-19 10:42:22 +0000 UTC]

Well yes, no many people play it, it's like 1 out of 30 people plays RTS, and then 1 out of 10 of those plays online with the legal ones (and I'm one of them, lol).
Most people like FPS and RPG games better (well I also love FPS, lol).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-19 13:18:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I really see the problem there. But you can't really blame people for switching if current RTS games suck.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-20 12:52:23 +0000 UTC]

True, and there're not many RTS games this year at all.
It would be awesome if EA (that did LotR) starts a Star Wars RTS project, haha.

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-20 15:49:12 +0000 UTC]

A Star Wars RTS? That'd be interesting. Wouldn't mind an epic space battle or a battle on Hoth.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-21 10:12:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, could be as (or more) epic as SW Empire at War if they do it, lol. Maybe a remake of the old SW RTS (2003?) and make a space battle bass building as well.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-24 11:07:20 +0000 UTC]

I've never played those games (or a lot of SW games), but I do think the SW universe would be suitable for an RTS game. We'll just have to wait and see.
As for the next C&C, I'm betting they're placing it in the Generals storyline.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-24 11:29:11 +0000 UTC]

Generals, probably. I also think so. But I can't think of anything to be continued with it other than GLA are attacking again or something like that...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-24 13:23:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, something lame like that. Or maybe they'll come up with different emerging factions for it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-25 03:08:08 +0000 UTC]

Probably, or maybe alien invasion invading China and GLA becomes a good faction? (that's lamer, lol)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-26 10:09:10 +0000 UTC]

Um.. hopefully not. I'd like to limit aliens to the original C&C saga.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-26 10:28:08 +0000 UTC]

Probably. A lot of questions without answers for C&C for now... I think it'd be about 2 years or after before they release a new one (it's fortunate that it's not released next year though, 'cause lots of games are coming at the end of this year and the beginning of next year)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-26 18:30:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think you're right. They're obviously doing some market research on which title (Generals etc.) to develop currently. And they don't want to show any WIP works, they want to go public a half a year before release and build up some hype.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-07-27 10:09:20 +0000 UTC]

Probably. But one thing that always annoys me is that they always never postpone any release dates to develop the games since 2008. For example RA3, they released it and the patched it a lot like it wasn't complete. So I think they'd better finish it off before they announce the new games or maybe just postpone...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-07-28 06:52:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, well, I'm afraid that's the industry standard.
Only a large game brand can postpone release..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekai-Verse In reply to alienorb [2011-08-01 06:24:45 +0000 UTC]

RA3 should be postponed... And SC2 should not be postponed for 2 years...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alienorb In reply to Sekai-Verse [2011-08-02 11:44:06 +0000 UTC]

I agree on RA3, haven't played SC2 yet. And how late did the infamous Duke Nukem Forever arrive?
