Moon Seeker and Sun Watcher Information
What is a Starsinger?
Starsingers are a species of celestial-centered ponies, who are believed to have created the sun and moon. They have two sub-species: Moon Seekers and Sun Watchers. These sub-species live in Soluna, a kingdom north of the Alimarian Empire. Years ago, they were one specie, but when the Sun and Moon Stones were presented by the sun and moon, the Starsingers split in two. They now live separately, but they can be joined together using a sacred and powerful spell, making a Moon Seeker and Sun Watcher a Starsinger. This spell gives them remarkable power, but only lasts for a short time before they are forced to separate again.
Where do they live?
Moon Seekers live in Lunae, the western half of Soluna, and are ruled by their prince, Moonshadow. It is a land of shadows, where the light of the moon illuminates mysterious forests and ancient secrets. The rumored birthplace of the moon, this sacred land is said to be blessed by its rays and protected under its shadow. The Moon Seekers who dwell here work hard to protect and maintain the Lunaculum, the only moon temple in Alimare.
Sun Watchers live in Soliste, the eastern half of Soluna and are ruled by their princess, Dawns Light. It is often called the Birthland of the Sun, and it is a long-held belief by all Alimarian ponies that it was, indeed, this land that birthed all radiant light. It is here that the Sun Watchers live and protect the Solanctium, the most ancient sun temple in the world.
Diet
Moon Seekers are herbivores, feasting on fruits, vegetables, grains, fungi, berries, roots, etc. They specialize in growing fungi, which make up a large portion of their diet since it grows everywhere in their dark forest.
Sun Watchers are omnivores. Their diet consists heavily on vegetation, but their desert home makes growing crops difficult. Because of this, they've turned to hunting and animal husbandry.
Trade and Goods
The epicenter of trade on the entire continent, the Sun Watcher captiol of Sirexandria offers unique and exotic items crafted by their powerful magic. They trade in fine cloth, rich spices, minerals such as gold, and rare herbs.
The Moon Seeker capitol of Staracuse is ground zero for magic, spells, and potions. Charms, staves, and magical items can be found here, but where there is white magic, there is also black. All forms of magic are for sale and are sold in Staracuse.
Body Builds and Size
Moon Seekers are small and slender, standing shorter than Sun Watchers by a head at least. They have skiny legs, and large ears, allowing them to easily weave through their forest home and hear before their eyes see. They have dark base coats, but their hightlights, patterns, manes, hooves, and horns can all be lighter in color.
Sun Watchers are large and robust, built strong and tall. They have large hooves that allow their bulk to be carried efficiently over the loose sand of their desert terrains. They have thick legs, barrel chests, and short ears. They have light base coats, but their hightlights, patterns, manes, hooves, and horns can all be darker in color.
Royal Families
Princess Dawnslight of Soliste leads her people with a strong will and a courageous heart. She earned her alicorn wings at a young age, when she was forced to face Emperor Bloodfang in his first siege of Sirexandria and successfully defended her people. She is known as the Princess of Hope, and has a deep love of her people and their culture.
Prince Moonshadow of Lunae is the only male alicorn in Alimare, and is the youngest Moon Seeker ever to take the Lunaen throne. He earned his wings when he freed his people from the tyranny of Emperor Bloodfang and banished the Void army from Staracuse. He is known as the Prince of Freedom and has lead numerous rescue missions into the heart of the Empire to rescue and liberate Bloodfang's kidnapped slaves.
Family and Marriage
It is very rare when a Sun Watcher or Moon Seeker will breed outside their own specific specie, but when they do, it is never with each other. Ancient laws forbid the union of Sun Watchers and Moon Seekers, believing that when the sun and moon split them, it was their destiny to always be separate. Deeper religious beliefs claim that if this separation were ever violated, the Sun and Moon Stones would be taken and the sun and moon would disappear.
Sun Watchers tend to be polygamous, with males having harems of up to five females living in his home. They are the only pony in Alimare to practice multiple-partner marriage, and are often misunderstood because of it. A single Sun Watcher stallion could have as many as twenty children in his lifetime. Male Sun Watchers gain status through marriage, and the more females a male has in his household, the higher in society he stands. The exception to this rule is the royal family, in which a prince or princess is born, and stays, in their status their entire lives with or without a harem.
Moon Seekers practice monogamy, marrying one spouse, and often staying married their entire lives. Females are the heads of the household, and they are often the ones who propose. Females work their entire young life to build and make homes for their future spouses and family, and a male's parents can reject a female proposal if they deem her estate is not worthy of their son. Moon Seekers tend to have twins (usually a male and female), and can have up to 6 children. Families with female twins are revered, and the eldest is taken to the moon temples to train as a priestess.
Hybrids
Since Sun Watchers and Moon Seekers tend to breed with their own kind, their offspring are most commonly unicorns. However, breeding with other ponies is not unheard of, and, although rare, hybrid foals do happen.
Moon Seeker and Sun Watcher Union:
Current religious laws forbid the two subspecies from mingling romantically, out of fear that if they attempt to breed, the sun and moon will take offense. Because they believe the singular specie, Starsinger, was split in two when the Sun and Moon Stones were given, it is seen as an insult to their celestial deities to undo what was done. There are some, however, who do not believe in such superstitions, and they have been known to pair. Children in these unions are extremely rare, and always favor the mother's specie.

Symbol Corruption
KEEP IN MIND THAT CORRUPTION SYMBOLS ARE CONSIDERED EPIC!
Corruption happens to a Moon Seeker or Sun Watcher when their celestial symbols on their chest become damaged, either by injury or by dark magic. For Moon Seekers, their symbol becomes a red blood moon, and for Sun Watchers, their symbol becomes a black sun. What these symbols corrupt, so, too, does the soul and personality of the pony. Both Moon Seekers and Sun Watchers have white magic (and may dabble in black magic if they feel so inclined), but if corruption occurs, their connection to ability to use white magic is cut off completely. It is replaced by black magic, which is more powerful and dangerous than all the other magic in Alimare. Unfortunately, the use of this magic comes at a high cost to the caster, often leaving them fatigued and addicted to its use. Corrupt ponies often seek out forbidden Void stones, absorbing their black magic to stave off the addiction symptoms or lessen the consequences of using such dark spells.
A change in behavior is also very common in corrupt ponies. They are usually described as becoming depressed, angry, or, in rare cases, soulless. The definition of "soulless" is a wide term for those that seem to have lost ties to certain (or all) emotions, and become wandering, blank husks of their former selves. These soulless ponies often wander aimlessly, searching for the part(s) of themselves that have gone missing, but which can never be recovered.
Corrupt ponies who display violent tendencies are usually cast out of society and are deemed "fallen" by their kin. They cluster together on the fringes of society, in camps strewn throughout Soluna. Many become bandits and vagabonds, raiding to survive. A very few corrupt ponies retain the majority of their personalities, and they are permitted to continue living among other Sun Watchers or Moon Seekers, but the stigma of their ailments causes discrimination problems. These ponies face a lifetime of persecution and make do as best they can. Many turn to the creation and distribution of black magic as a result.
Starsingers - Soluna Kingdom InfoStarsingers are ponies who dwell in Soluna, the northern kingdom of Alimare. Soluna itself is split into two sub-kingdoms, Soliste in the east, and Lunae in the west. Each sub-kingdom is ruled by its own prince or princess, who, of course, answer to the Empress. Starsingers have two distinct sub-species - the sun-dwelling Sun Watchers, and the night-walking Moon Seekers.
Soliste
Soliste is often called the Birthland of the Sun, and it is a long-held belief by all Alimarian ponies that it was, indeed, this land that birthed all radiant light. It is here that the Sun Watchers live and protect the Solanctium, the most ancient sun temple in the world.
Sun Watchers
Sun Watchers are the resident unicorn ponies of Soliste. They are large in size, with powerful legs, strong attitudes, and fearless hearts. They stand taller than their Moon Seeker counterparts, and are bright in color, resembling the light most of them worship. On their chests are
